My DH thinks I should pursue this field but I am not so sure. I have always worked in a specific field knowing that I could do it, I am so nervous about doing something that I can fail at and the market is so competitive.
I need a career change because my current career does not pay well enough and takes too much out of me emotionally and physically. I need something a little less intense but still lucrative.
I think I have the skills for it. I am outgoing, excellent with people, creative, great at problem solving, and very convincing (so says them man who has been arguing with me for the past 10 years Wink. I am focused and goal oriented and I have a flair for design.
Anyone have a career in real estate? Is it really a flooded market? Anyway to work on a salary basis at least to start off with? How do I start?
Any other advice or career options?

I have a friend in real estate and it's SUPER intense. She makes good money and has MANY sales per year, but I am just wondering what field you're coming from that you're thinking real estate is LESS intense? The work is CONSTANT and you'll always be working Sundays, the hours are long, and from what I can see, it's hard work. Fulfilling, but HARD.

Having said that, I work very part time and my work isn't at all intense, and I'm my own boss working from home (half the time in my jammies) so I could never see myself stepping into real estate. But if you're a brain surgeon, for instance, then yes--- real estate is probably a bit less intense. Smile

I'm a Realtor. Only do it if you have the time to market yourself and the money to do it. I have spent a lot of money and have made $0. I've done it for about 8 months. Its really frustrating and you need a lot of patience when things dont go as planned. Lots of competition out there.
