I work in a non-Jewish office and when I got a new sheitel earlier this year I was worried about it would go over, because my new one was longer, darker and curlier than what I had been wearing. And a lot of my co-workers have no clue that I wear a wig - some of them have never really been exposed to Orthodox Jews and don't have any idea.

I got exactly 1 comment, and that was just someone who asked whether I had gotten my hair done. I now switch back and forth between my fall that is straight and a dirty blonde color and my sheitel that is curly and a light brown (but nowhere near blonde) and no one ever says a word or seems to notice.

What I've taken from this is that everyone is so worried about their own appearance and afraid of what other people are going to think, that they have no time to notice anyone else. It's not that big of a deal.

I do it! I have a bob, and a slightly past the shoulder "long" one. The bangs are similar, the colors are slightly different, and they look NOTHING alike (unless I "grew" out my bob-maybe if it was really my hair, it would eventually look like my longer one).

When I worked in an environment with secular people, I only wore the bob, and used the longer one for shabbos, etc. Now that I'm mostly around frum jews, I wear either, depending on which I'm in the mood for and think would go best with my outfit.

I miss my own curly hair so much, I might as well have fun with the fact that I have to cover my hair.

I also have a lot of not frum family, and around them I switch it up as well--I think they find the whole thing very amusing.
