I'm thinking of doing a chickpea, zucchini, carrot, squash, and onion saute and serving it over couscous or quinoa...have to figure it out since I haven't shopped since last Sunday and won't be until at least tomorrow.
Last night was homemade pizza.
Tonight will probably be zucchini soup (if the zucchini I have is still good), french toast, and corn on the cob.
Tuesday -- maybe the chickpea thingy.
Wednesday -- baked ziti with salmon patties, not sure what else
Thursday -- some type of very easy, no clean up needed type of thing like fishsticks and fries since I have to cook for Shabbos and for tisha b'av food for the kids.
What are you guys serving for seudas shlishis? My typical pre-fast stuff won't work too well. _________________ http://a-natural-birth.com

Recipe for the nutty burgers please? |
Nutty Burgers (make them small and you'll have 'meat balls', make them big and have mounds- not exactly burger shaped at all):
4oz chopped nuts
6oz ground hazelnuts
3 tbsp boiled rice
1 onion- finely chopped
2 eggs
2 tbsp tomato paste
1-2 oz shredded cheese
salt and pepper
Method:
Saute onion
Mix together all ingredients
Wet hands and shape into balls
Place on greased baking tray
Bake at 400f until browned

Can you please post these recipies |
Veg/ Tom Sauce- blog below:
1 small onion, chopped
1 red or orange pepper, chopped
4 mushrooms, chopped or sliced
½ courgette, chopped
1-2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 tbsp tomato puree
500 ml carton of passata/creamed tomatoes (or a tin of chopped tomatoes)
Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (or use ½-1 tsp dried herbs)
Black pepper to taste
½ tsp sugar
Gently fry the onion, garlic and chopped veg. in 1 tbsp olive oil.
Add the tomato puree and cook for 1 minute.
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir.
Put the lid on the pan and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft.
Blend if desired.
Lemon Pasta- Jamie Oliver-- this is VERY lemon-y adjust to taste:
• 500g dried linguine pasta
• juice of 3 Sicilian lemons and zest of 1
• 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
• 125g Parmesan cheese, grated
• sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
• a large bunch of fresh basil, leaves picked and finely chopped
• a handful of rocket
Cook the linguine in a generous amount of boiling, salted water for about 12 minutes, then drain thoroughly and return to the saucepan. Meanwhile, beat the lemon juice and zest with the olive oil, then stir in the Parmesan – it’ll go thick and creamy. Season and add more lemon juice if needed. Add the lemon sauce to the linguine and shake the pan to coat each strand of pasta with the sauce (the Parmesan will melt when mixed with the pasta). Finish by stirring in the chopped basil and the rocket.
Cauliflower Cheese:
I use a basic cheese sauce recipe- milk, cheese, flour, butter etc (like if you were making mac n cheese), pour the sauce over some very lightly steamed cauliflower and top with shredded cheese and either sliced almonds/sunflower seeds/bread crumbs. Cook at about 350 until browned on top.
Make sure sauce isnt watery and that cauliflower is well drained or you will have a very watery dish- the thicker the cheese sauce the better for this dish.
Sunshine Veg Soup- from the wedonteatanythingwithoutaface blog:
4-6 carrots
1 small sweet potato
1 orange or yellow bell pepper
150g-200g/6-8oz butternut squash
2 sticks of celery
1 onion
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1litre/1¾ pt hot vegetable stock (made with a stock cube)
25g/1oz dried red lentils
1 tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp turmeric
black pepper to taste
fresh chopped coriander/cilantro to serve
Peel and chop the vegetables into chunks.
Fry the onion in 1 tbsp olive oil, until soft.
Add all of the other veg and the spices to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes.
Pour in the stock and bring up to the boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for around 20-30 minutes, or until all the vegetables are soft.
Liquidise in a blender until smooth.

Well like I said there are 2.
Red pallella.
Make rice as per usual. In a separate pan make tomato sauce I usually season it with a lot olive oil, after add about 2tsp salt,1 1/2tb paprica, 1tb garlic pwd and a dash of oinion pwd. Bring to boil add to rice stir in add 2-3 cans of tuna enjoy.
This is more authentic takes longer.
Yellow Pallella.
cut finely 1 medium sized onion, slice 4 cloves of garlic fry together till onions start to go transparent. add rice fry for about 2mins together. Add water equivalent to the amount of rice.Next in the pan ,mushrooms, red peppers peas carrots... (small pieces) Now seasoning, for 2 cups rice 4 tsp salt, 2tb garlic pwd, 3tsp cumin, 1tb saffron/turmeric gr pepper. cook like normal rice covered for20 min leave for 5 add tuna. (1tsp nutmeg can be nice but not everyone likes it)
After 9 days you can use chicken in place of tuna
