Hi Raisin, nice to meet you. I'm a real grown up, and I am usually asleep by 9:30. I'm not the only one either. Dh goes to bed around 10, and he would also not be too impressed to get a call at that time (especially if it was something that was going to take more than a few minutes).
I say don't call after 9 or 9:30 max, especially if it's a call that will take more than a couple of minutes. _________________ Lucky Mom to 5

I've had israelis calling me early on sunday morning, unaware that a) sunday is not a workday outside of isreal and b) there is a time difference. and c) isrealis start their day much earlier anyway.
So no, 9 or 10am israel time is NOT a good time to call someone in Europe.

This is so cultural that I don't think we can really discuss it on a board with different nationalities and frum groups (yes, I'm serious).
In chareidi communities in EY it is totally acceptable to call till 10.30 at night, probably even 11. On motzai Shabbos in the summer, even later. If I'm calling someone not chareidi, I wouldn't call after 10 pm. In some cultures like kibbutzim, moshavim etc. it's fine to call at 6am (yes, you read it right). If I don't know people, I would call from 8am - 10 pm, excluding 2-4 in the afternoon. If I know they have school age children, I would also call 2-4, but not before around 8.45 since they are probably busy getting children out of the house. _________________ "The problem begins with... their political hangers oners... such as Anat Hoffman. I know that my parents davka left their house phone on in their room when my grandparents were alive because if anything happened they would have been called. So thats not always an option.

For a professional type call like OP is discussing, I'd call from 9 am - 9 pm. That's it. I wouldn't call a client or my kids' teacher or a colleague out of those hours.
For anything else - family, friends, miscellaneous - from 8:30 am - 10 pm in general. If I know the family, and they are up later, then till 11. Personally I prefer to talk late at night, when most of the kids are in bed.
I agree with Shalhevet though that this is cultural.

I think 10pm is pretty late to call. I don't think I'd call past about 8.30 unless I knew the person was OK with it.
If you have their cell phone maybe you could send a text message asking if it is OK to call.

I don't like to take phone calls after 10,
but if its for business I probably would be to tiered at that point so I would say 8 30 after my son is in bed _________________ HTML • Babycenter • Ezboard • PseudoHTML, UBBCode and BB Code

Raisin,
I am usually in bed by 10. I wake up between 4:30-5 for work. DH wakes up then too.
Feel free to call me at 5 am though! Not on the house line though. _________________ Never mistake activity for achievement.
