There was a midnight shooting in a movie theatre in a mall in Aurora, CO last night. It seems a white, early 20's guy which no criminal records or known terrorist links decided to throw teargas over a crowd of movie-goers and then shoot who ever he could. So far 12 dead and close to 50 injured. Many of the dead are children including a 6 year old and a 3 month old baby. This is such sad, terrible news.

Horrific. What sort of nutty world do we live in? Sad

(Am I the only person who is kind of surprised that people take young kids to movies at midnight, though?)

Absolutely not. That was one of my first thoughts too, but it really doesnt mater when there has been mass murder Sad Also I see so many people here at night with their little kids- in fact, where I live it is not uncommon to bring your baby to a late night showing b/c apparently then they are asleep and you dont need to pay for a babysitter...

It's horrific, but I only heard about the 3 month old and 6 yo being wounded, not dead. I hope that that is the case.

Also, let us not forget the karbanos we had this week of fellow yidden who died al kiddush hashem solely because they were Jewish.

It's so so scary what happens during the nine days,
we need Moshiach.

From what I've heard, this particular movie was a bit dark for a 6 year old, but otherwise, its a big, exciting thing to go to a midnight premiere of a movie like that. Sure, I can see people bringing a 6 year-old.

Sadly, the little girl died, and her mother was shot in the throat. I don't think its a good time to be criticizing her parenting.

Why, oh why, do US politicians kowtow to the NRA. Why is it so easy to purchase an assault weapon, which has no real purpose except to kill, and to purchase hundreds of rounds of ammunition on the internet.

In any case, I'm praying for those who were injured, and are still hospitalized, from this horror.

I don't get the connection here - the 9 days (and the 3 weeks) is an inauspicious time period for the Jewish people in particular. Horrific as this massacre was, I don't view it in the context of the nine days at all.
