Violent video games @ 13 years old

At what age are violent video games appropriate. DSs (13) friend just got "call of duty: mw3", and I made it clear to said friends mother that I don't want ds playing. Needless to say ds is not happy. I don't let him watch r-rated movies and rated M video games are the same thing. Am I crazy?

you are not crazy. violent games these days are so much worse than they were a few years ago. the ratings are there for a reason. I wouldn't want my husband playing a lot of the new games out there, certainly not a 13 yr old. you have a right to your opinion. if the other mom thinks your crazy, that's her right. it shouldn't make a difference in your decision.

At that age I begin letting games rated E10+, before that age only E.

And I don't think anyone should be playing the M games ever

Are you kidding....NEVER!! I let my 12 yo play Westward and he get's violent.

I hate this life of computers...but at least I know where my kids are...two inches from the screen.

There's violent and violent.
Some kids also are more influenced.
I would let (normal non crazy) violence but not nudity.

My husband plays Call of Duty and I think it's horrible. I am not happy about it at all. You made the right decision.

My dh also plays a couple games I "hate". Especially those in realistic Paris setting make me sick. He knows. But again, he's allowed to play clean games and it's his choice.
