that depends on the field. I've hired freelancers for $45 an hour (VA's for instance), $100 an hour.... and even $10 an hour (home office assistant). It depends on the skill set and what's needed. I've also paid people per project rather than by hour. (people to write articles for me, etc)

Personally I don't make a set income---- some days I make nothing and some days I make $500. If over the course of the month I'm making what my income goal is, I don't care if I have a few $0 days in a row (as long as I have enough $400 and $500 days Smile)

For those who know of actual jobs- are there any part time? I work full day Mon-Thurs but I'm willing to work a few extra hours a week. Are there opportunities for part time? PM me if you know anything! TIA!

freelancing basically means that you are not an employee. it's like you have your own one-person business, and the people that you work for are your customers/clients. It can entail doing almost any kind of work. The main difference is that as an employee, the employer deducts taxes from your check. but when you freelance, you get paid in full and have to pay your own taxes when you fill out your tax forms.

although freelancing could be almost any kind of work, these sites usually involve work such as writing, typing, book keeping, programming, or other work that you can do remotely or via the computer.

You can check the sites to see what work is available, and whether you are able to do them. sometimes it's work for just one day, a bunch of different projects for different customers. sometimes the work is more long term.

Thanks Mazel tov.
I looked through some websites for freelancing jobs. They look tempting. But how do I know what's reliable and authentic and not just a scam?
Do I need to give personal info when accepting such a job?

I can't write much now, because I need to go to sleep, but I'm glad you realize that some people there are scammers, so be careful. Do not give any personal info when accepting a job.

They might ask you to demonstrate your skill with a sample of the type of work that they want. But don't give them personal info.

Proceed with caution. Some are authentic and some are scammers. You can read the reviews and look for any negative reviews of the person.

I don't have much experience with these sites. I've hired people on freelancer briefly in the past. and my husband also hired people from these sites. almost anyone can join these sites. so don't give any personal info.

I posted more information in the other thread too.
I'll paste it here:

you can try fiverr.com and see if that helps. on that site, people post things that they are willing to do for $5, and things that they want done for $5. so you can post something or respond to something. if you could do it often, it adds up. for example, if you could do 5 gigs an hour for $5 each, then you earn $25 in that hour. it depends on what it is.
http://fiverr.com/categories/writing

you can also try freelancer.com and see if you find projects to do. Projects start at $30 and go up to hundreds of dollars. you can start off getting paid a low amount, and then when you get great reviews and prove yourself, they might pay you more. people post projects that they want done, and people bid on them. I've hired people there to write articles for me in the past, and I've looked for people that write well and know fluent english.
http://www.freelancer.com/sellers/

you can also try elance.com, guru.com, avelancers.com

do not give anyone your private information because some people are scammers. you can create a free email address to join freelancer and bid on projects.
---
here is an example of two poetry jobs that you can bid on:

http://www.freelancer.com/projects/Ghostwriting-poetry/Short-story-that-rhymes.html

http://www.freelancer.com/projects/poetry/Anniversary-Poem-for-wife.html
--

sample writing jobs on the site:
http://www.freelancer.com/projects/Research-Academic-Writing/page-Research-Essay-Health-amp.html
http://www.freelancer.com/proj.....-area.html

There are many other jobs, find what is applicable to you. People bid from all over the world. When you bid, show them that you are fluent in English and good for what they need.
--------
I'm the "gal who writes for zujava" mentioned in the other thread. (I have articles on other sites too). It's true that the tier payments are not much at the moment. However, if you include amazon or other affiliate products, then you can earn a commission when people purchase through your link. I don't focus so much on that, but some people do.

Another idea is as follows: If you have a bunch of school essays and school research papers saved on your computer, that you never published, you can publish them on zujava. it doesn't take much time. You just need to split up the content into sections and add pictures in between the sections, but it's basically a copy and paste of all of your school papers that you never published. and down the line you could earn some money from it. the tier payments are currently very little each month unless you have amazon sales, but it's better than just leaving it on your computer for no one to see.

even if you only earn pennies a month, down the line it could be hundreds of dollars a month, because the articles keep earning money every month that you keep them on the site, and as the site grows, the income grows for every article on the site, based on the tiers.

also check out my suggestions above regarding fiverr, freelancer etc. Those are immediate, so you don't have to wait for it to grow. Just be careful not to give out private information because some are legitimate but some are scammers.

I hope that helps.

Hatzlacha.
