Simcha emergency!

I was invited to a the bar mitzvah of a close family friend's son...I just found out tonight that I'll be able to make the simcha, which is tomorrow. My problem is, I don't have a sheitel to wear! I use bandannas to cover, which is definitely not appropriate attire. Also, this is a strictly sheitel crowd and I don't want to be embarrassed...it's to the point that I'm considering not going, but I can't do that to this friend (the father of the boy was kvater by our son's bris!). Does anyone know where I could borrow or rent a sheitel FAST? Like, Sunday (tomorrow) morning? I'm an ash-blonde and at this point, desperate and not picky (just don't want a dark brunette sheitel as it would look as out-of-place on me as neon-pink!). Any help GREATLY appreciated!!!

Do you want to own a sheital? Why not make an appointment at a salon open on Sunday?

I should mention I'm in Flatbush and that I can't afford a sheitel (I just had a baby b"H and finances are very tight).

This same thing happened to me. My husband has some VERY chassidish family. I remember we were invited to a bar mitzvah something like a month after we got married and I only wear hats. In the end, I ended up getting a fancy hat in Brooklyn that I could stuff all my hair into. I also actually ended up wearing a wig cap underneath the hat to make sure that no hair peeked out since I have a lot of hair.

Surely you don't wear bandanas on Shabbos or Yom Tov? What do you usually wear when you want to dress up? If it is a fancy hat, go with what you have. Who cares if the other women are mostly wearing sheitles? A nice hat can look just as beautiful and you will probably be pleasantly surprised to see other women wearing hats too. For the future, you can look into investing in a sheitle when you have more time to put into looking for the right one. A sheitle that is cut for one person's face can look really awkward on someone else. I'd say go with a nice hat this time.
