Slat bed, one broke. Is that fixable? Do we need a new one?

my daughter's bed is one of those IKEA bed frames with slats under the mattress.
The other day, one of the slats in the middle of the frame broke in half.
Now, she is only 4 years old and so her weight is not an issue (the slat broke because someone - an adult - sort of bounced onto the bed Sad

)
I was wondering if anyone knew, do we have to go and buy a whole new slat thing or is it fixable with extra strong glue?
Does anyone know? It would be a real bother to have to go to IKEA and buy another one.

As long as the frame is intact, can't you go to a lumberyard (where does one find those here?) and buy a slat of wood and replace it yourself?

Making mental note to tell this story to my son, who has one of those beds and sometimes jumps on it, against my explicit orders not to...

Just buy a slat - measure it (or take the broken one with you) and go to a place where they sell wood to measure (usually in an eizor taasiya - but real ones, not the areas which have turned into fancy shopping centers; many cities now have two).

We did this (not from Ikea, but same idea).

Yes, like shalhevet said: go to an azor hataasia -- a real one, not a fancy place.

You may even be able to find something in Home Depot. Or a slat from a wooden shipping palette at a junkyard. Or something from a rubbish bin at a building site.

Ask any kid where he gets wood on Lag B'Omer and he can give you a lead...

We all have IKEA beds with slats. As I recall (and I am not about to lift the mattresses to check), the slats came joined together, so I don't think you can replace one slat.

On the other hand, I remember that they were not expensive at all. I just checked the US IKEA online catalogue, and the Sultan Lade slatted bed base was listed at $20 for a twin size bed. If your daughter is 4, she is certainly not going to be harmed by sleeping on a slightly broken bed base even for many months, until you have time to get to IKEA again.

I see this is an old thread but as others said, yes you can replace a slat and I would advise also to get a board for between the slats and the mattress better for the back and spreads out the weight more so this is less likely to happen.
