What do you do when YOU'RE sick?

I have been sick all week and I can't seem to kick it because I have no opportunity to recover. What do you do when you're sick? I have no household help, my DH works all day and I have been pushing my poor body just to take care of my baby.
Every morning I dread the day because I am in such pain, I just want to stay in bed with the light off and rest so I can get better, but I have no choice.
My mother always worked so when she was sick, there were always older kids helping out (when I was around Smile

) and the little kids were at a babysitter, that they continued to go to even if she was home.
I guess this is part of being a Mommy but I need some advice!
I am not even referring to housework etc. I'm talking about taking care of the baby all day and not ahving a chance to take care of myself.

Find a babysitter for a day so you can rest up and be there for your baby tomorrow.

Would your dh's boss accept a note from a doctor saying your state justifies him staying? I once got one.

Baby sitter, taking it easy, asking around if someone does chessed... TAKE IT EASY.

In the mean time, have a doctor come to see you at home if you cannot go.

I can sometimes get my husband to take a day off or work from home if I'm desperate. not always possible, though. there are some grown women in my neighborhood who will do odd babysitting jobs. I've had one come a couple of times to watch the baby, take a walk with him/her/them for a while if I'm sick. my mil once came when I had a fairly newborn at home and was sick with the flu. she brought the baby to me to nurse, but let me sleep/relax the rest of the time.

it is important to have another competent adult available at times. call someone in your shul and ask if they know of anyone. I find shuls to be the best places to find people for these jobs.

if I'm not sick enough to ask someone, I let my kids watch a dvd (this is reserved for when I'm sick or they're sick or pesach cleaning) and try to get the baby into a comfy spot with lots of toys. I sit on the couch until it is necessary to get up. if you only have the baby, set up your couch to have everything. have a diaper bag with pad, wipes, diapers, and a garbage bag within reach. if your baby sleeps in the swing, have your dh set it up next to the couch before going to work.keep water, vitamins, tylenol, whatever you need within reach in another section of the floor. if you're using formula, keep a day's worth of stuff in another area you can reach without getting up. sit the whole day while watching baby. it's annoying, but your body needs it.

MOTRIN every 5 1/2 hours. works WONDERS and magic.

I sit on the couch and cry! I let the big one make whatever messes she wants, she gets bread and cereal for meals, takeout for super. baby gets bottles and cheerios and pamper changes.... everything from the couch

there might be some teenage girls who are off from school but didn't go to camp in your neighborhood, that would be perfect to have one come babysit for you during the day. ignore all housework until you feel better, get a babysitter for your baby.
