Pampers Swaddlers - how long do they wear newborn size?

I am purchasing a case of pampers swaddlers in newborn size. I am trying to figure out how large a case I need.

In the past the large 250 piece case of one size of pampers worked well for us and we used all the pampers before purchasing a case of the next size. But we didn't start purchasing cases until our child was a little bigger, so I don't know how many pieces we would actually need in the newborn size.

I think the 250 piece case is too much for us, as newborns grow quickly BH.

Should we get the 140 piece case or the 85 piece case? Obviously, the larger the case the cheaper per pamper.

85. That's the size I get (I guess) and my kids are all around 7 lbs at birth.

Yeah, and even then I feel like I am sacrificing clean clothes for the sake of finishing up the package...also, if you get diapers in the hospital, you may not even need that many. (20 less?) I use from day 1, so that makes a difference.

The plan is 2 days at the hospital a few days at home and then 5 days at a convalescent home.

Now I don't know what to do. I remember always buying and buying and wasting money at the regular pharmacy for the small packs. But then again that could have been the when we were using the next size.

Should I just get a gift pack of 40 newborn + 40 size 1 (will cost us $0.31 a pamper instead of $0.24 per pamper but probably still cheaper that what we would pay at the local mom and pop pharmacy)?

none. my kids where born 7 pounds 10 ounces/ 7 pounds 11 ounces and wore size 1 right away. my big one wore newborns when the nicu ran out of 1 but as soon as they got some from pediatrics they put her right back in it

My friend had a baby recently and they gave her size ones in the hospital, totally skipped over newborn size. Her baby was average size. Unless your baby is small, less than seven lbs I guess, I would do that too. It holds everything in so much better. Otherwise, no longer than a week or two in size newborn. I found that I went through about 12 diapers a day at that stage- they poop with every feeding.

We didn't use newborn at all. my baby was small (less than 7 lbs and he was long and skinny at birth which made the midwife "guess" a smaller weight than he was before she put him on the scale.)

We started with a large case of 1.

in the worse case, you can put the extra ones away for the next baby. that's what I do.

It depends on your baby. People told us NOT to buy large amounts of newborn diapers and my baby ended up wearing them for his first 6 weeks - we should have bought a large case of them (we probably bought at least 10 packs of the 36-count). But there's no way to know until your baby is born.

yeah my baby was 7-12 at birth, is now 9 lbs at 3 weeks and still comfortably fits into nb size. but if you want to be careful about saving money buy size 1 and fold them down till they fit
