dh works and I work p/t, but we still cant seem to make ends meet. we do get government assistance wherever we can, but were still not managing. the cc bills come and we look at each other and laugh, cuz we both have no idea where the money will come from other than from heaven. we do have savings, but thats not a solution cuz as soon as its gone, were back to square one. we live in a tiny apartment, we do not own it. we own an old used car, we dont lease like everyone else around town. my kids wear cheap clothes, childrens place, macys, hand-me-downs from my siblings and I spend almost no money on myself. even my sheitel gets washed a lot less often that it should, because I dont feel it such a necessity.
anyways, I think im rambling a bit. my point, what can I/we do to bring in some extra cash?

What does your husband do for the rest of the day if he only works PT?? Can he get a full time job or something? Do you work?

Personally I feel it's easier to trim costs than trying to get more income.

I find the opposite. I watch but I prefer to have the extra income so I don't feel strapped (bh we are doing well but saving) so I tutor and some other things to have that extra pocket money.

I always feel it's easier to make more money than trim costs.

I'm in direct sales and network marketing so that I can make a full time income in part time hours and work from home around my kids' schedule. It's not for everyone, but this way I'm able to make money at 11, 11:30, 12 at night when the kids are sleeping. Not sure what I would do, money wise, if I didn't have the ability to create income during hours that most people are relaxing. During the day I'm so busy with the kids. Heck, right now I'm listening to a webinar, and I have a phone appointment in 15 minutes (it's 9:15 now--- one kid is sleeping and one is GETTING there... lol).

My outflow is pretty fixed----- not willing to move again to find a place with lower rent---- not paying car payments currently (but both cars will die soon, so that will change soon), life and car insurance is what it is..... we don't have health insurance.

My husband won't be working all summer--- but our outflow is still the same. So--- I'm on the side of creating more income.

I probably could get more hours at work, but then I would be paying more for child care. and if I did, it would only be an extra hour or two a day. that doesnt really pay. tutoring is not really for me. and I do watch what ispend, but my family has to eat, and have clothes to wear, etc.

Some thoughts:

1. Bake cakes (no joke - I have a friend who did this for a while)

2. Bake potato kugel and make big batter and divide into smaller pans (same as above)

3. Make gift baskets/ purim baskets/ (take picture frames, jewelry, add cellophane and ribbon)

4. Make "shalom zachor" cookies and sell locally

5. Buy freeze pops, freeze and sell locally at 50% profit

6. Use cloth and ribbon and paste to cut up tissue boxes - sell - add to gift baskets with bar of soap, etc.

7. go to youpearl.com or aypearl.com and sell jewelery (real pearls and gems - look better than ugly beads)

Do either one of you have the option of finding a better paying job? It doesn't sound as though the few dollars you will make here and there with the suggestions offered will really make a dent in your budget.

ETA tutoring actually pays quite well, so if that's an option I would pursue it.

Take a look at the work available at:
guru.com
elance.com
freelancer.com
(also http://www.avelancers.com/ is a new site for jewish freelancers.)

I hope that you find something suitable.
