| |
Someone bought DS two pairs of shoes for when he starts walking (I'm guessing he'll need them in 2-3 months time).
The problemn is that I know nothing about the brands so I'd like to get feedback regarding whether or not I should keep them.
The first one is called Pedipeds and they have a fairly flexible rubber sole.
The second one is called See Kai Run and has a very stiff sole.
I'm NOT asking for advice on what to look for in a first shoe -I know that that's extremely controversial and I'll get a million different answers here.
Rather, I want to know about your experiences with these brands specifically to help me decide whether I should keep these shoes.
TIA

I love the pedipeds for when my kids are just starting to walk and I want to protect their feet outdoors, but am not ready to put them in shoes full time.
they wear well and gen. hold up
see kai run I can't remember if I've ever bought them. but it's the same idea.
I would NOT recommend to get pediped shoes they fall apart very easily and do not wear well at all.

Ive never heard of either shoe but I do know that the leading shoe store in the UK sells pre-walkers for when kids are learning to walk and cruising around they are a real shoe with a softer sole and grips on the front of the toes too.
They are great for first shoes. I never heard there is a conflict of opinions over such shoes.
Perhaps you are talking about the sock like shoe that has grips at the bottom? _________________

This has NOT been my experience. I've bought at least 3 pairs of pediped shoes and they've worn great, supported great, looked great, lasted great. I would davka recommend them.

Pedipeds Grip 'n Go line is fantastic quality and intended for early walkers (their Originals line is geared for pre-walkers and will not hold up well with outdoor use). I purchased a Pediped for my baby's first shoe 6 weeks ago - both the shoe and the walker are doing great

| Also, I don't know how old your ds is, but it's nearly impossible to determine what his shoe size will be in 2-3 months from now, even he does start walking based on your estimation. If they won't be returnable after that time frame, you might be stuck with shoes that don't fit.

Pedipeds is great for when they are starting to walk. It is machine washable which is a plus. Once he is walking for a few weeks steady, you will need a regular shoe. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

I love pediped. Hold up well, look great, very comfortable. They have several different lines geared toward different stages. Think they're called original, grip and go and flex. _________________ "Don't turn your back. Don't look around. And don't blink. Good luck." -The Doctor

Both good brands. Start off with flexible sole when possible. SKR are supposed to be quite flexible, not sure if you need to break them in or why they're stiff.
The bigger question is: will they fit? _________________ http://a-natural-birth.com

| I've bought both brands for my kids, they are both great first shoes. Just use whichever works best/seems more comfortable for your child, you can't go wrong with either (other than fitting, how will yo do that on your own for a child who can't tell you how they feel?)

| Getting the right fit is more important than the specific quality of the shoe.

My son had soft soled (leather) pedipeds as his first pair. They were a perfect transition from walking barefoot to getting used to wearing shoes. His second pair was see kai run. The soles were very flexible, but rubber, which is obviously a little more structured (and necessary at that stage). I was very happy with those as well, they really held up well and he was very comfortable.
Like others said, fit is really important. My ds walked at 12 months, but he has big feet, so he wore larger sizes than most new walkers do. He also has wide feet, which I obviously accommodated for.
