DH has started walking DS about a mile every day to my mothers house (she babysits for him)

He noticed that a couple times when DS was trying to fall asleep the jolt jolt jolt of the sidewalk cracks were not letting him. DH wants to walk fast (doing this for excersize) but if he goes at a brisk pace then DS is bothered and cries.

We have a regular nothing fancy stroller (chicco travel system)

DH is convinced that if we had a jogging stroller or an air tire stroller then the ride would be smoother and he would be able to walk at a very brisk pace (not quiet jogging) and DS would be ok with it.

Would air tires really help that much?

Also if anyone in Chicago has a stroller with air tires, would we be able to borrow it one day to see if it makes a diff and if its worth it to find one to buy?

TIA

Absolutely! I have a cheapo stroller and a mountain buggy. The mountain buggy rides a million times more smoothly, and I find it jostles the kids a lot less. I use my stroller almost exclusively on pavement. With the cheap one, you feel it every time it isn't perfectly smooth. With the mountain buggy it just glides. It's a lot easier to push too, even though the stroller itself is much heavier.

Another vote for air tires. I got a second hand jogging stroller and for the first time I can walk and look around me and not at every step of the pavement that is pretty bad in many places. Definitely a smoother ride!
