I'm not writing this to open another topic bashing the "asifa".
I would like to comply with the guidelines set by the gedolim. I work for a frum man, and there are other non-Jewish people who work in our office as well.
My boss is aware of the "asifa" etc. however, our office has unfiltered internet.
I also have a blackberry (paid for by my employer so I can get e-mails, etc.)
Any advice?

| Your blackberry shouldn't be a problem, you would probably have to pay for the filter alone though.

get AdBlock for Firefox, with proper configuration, that can block most ads.
ask him if he would mind if you install K9 on his computer (it's free). Keep it at a level that allows you to access all the sites you would need for work.

| Since it is you who would like to "comply with the guidelines set by the gedolim," you be sure to never set your sights on improper or questionable material. It is not your job to assure that your boss follows the guidelines set at the Asaifa.

If your boss decides to put a filter on the entire network, be careful- your colleagues may resent you for it. _________________ You only have 1Life2Live, so make it count!

If you would like there to be a filter in your workplace I would approach it from a completely different angle. He is setting himself up for potential IT security threats by not filtering out unsecured content. There are many nasty things hiding in seemingly safe sites, and plenty in not-so-safe sites.
Additionally, if you only use your computer and do not use others, perhaps you could request a different PC setup with a filter.

OP here:
I just don't know (don't think it is) if it is my place to tell him to get filters.

| I agree with small bean. though I will say this: if you need the internet for work, filters may cause you some problems. I don't know what field you're in, but filters can sometimes block very helpful sites. your boss may not allow you to filter for this reason.

When I installed K9 at work, it caused the blue screen of death all the time, so in the end we had to reload windows entirely and all programs... I work in a small office. no IT department and it was a real pain in the neck..
I don't know if you should rock the boat..
