could I make filet mignon like a roast? does anyone have a recipe? I know it should usually be grilled or seared. Please help me, thanks!

Where on earth did you find kosher filet mignon at a semi-reasonable price? (Or maybe you didn't. I know you can get it for $40+ a pound, but that's not happening any time soon for me.)

It would be absolute sacrilege to cook filet mignon like a roast. Its a steak, and a very tender cut of one at that. It should be cooked with high heat. I'd sear it, then finish it in the oven.

You "could" use a recipe from food.com, and there are many highly rated ones there, but I'd let the meat shine through for this one.

We always get filet Mignon at Pomegranate in Brooklyn Yes.

I paid about $10 a pound, I bought 4 slices since I didn't want to buy a whole french roast or something. What would happen if I put the mignon in a pot with onions and sugar, water, wine and cooked it?
