you are 18 years old (pretend if you are not). you are waiting to meet your friends at the corner of a street. you are waiting there ages, and it's been about an hour and your friends still haven't shown up. you are wondering what's going on where they are etc. you are worried.
there is a very handsome young man working opposite (Jewish, wearing a kippa), and two other men working with him. you notice that the two men are whispering to him about you.
then, the handsome man comes up to you and asks you, "are you ok?" "Is everything alright?"
you explain to him you are waiting for your friends but they haven't turned up. by now it's been about two hours, you assume they are no longer coming. then he asks you," would you like to come for dinner with me"?
would you go with him?

I would but to a public place with lots of people around. in the times we live in things are different and you have to be careful.
if you were attracted to one another, you could exchange numbers afterwards so you could see each other again and get to know each other better

I wouldn't, but if interested I might take his # (or give him mine) for future dinner Wink
But I'd want to 'get to know' him a bit first.

no way and I probably wouldn't have had a conversation with him either. I would have just smiled and that's it. Why would a 18 year old girl be talking to strange men on the street?

Yes.

And knowing me I would have waited that long too.

The longest I would wait is 30 mins, and that's only if I knew they were coming (ie. I was on the phone with them and knew they were just running late). Who waits around for 2 hours?

wouldnt have waited more than 25 min but I would have said yes if I felt something for the guy..an attraction of some kind. but I would have some stipulations-

1. I would take my own transportation- whether it be my own car or bus....
2. I would only go to a public place that tends to have a lot of people even if its late at night- like a very pop restaurant.
3. I would call several people to let them know where I am and the name of the person I am with. I would then let the guy know in the course of conversation that I mentioned to several people that I am out with him...

I'm appalled at how many people would just go out with a stranger they met on the street.

If you met him by a wedding of a mutual friend or somewhere that you know people who know him then that's one thing. But a stranger on the street?

What's wrong with you?

Was this some kind of trick question? Lots of people meet their dates in all sorts of places. If the guy was interested enough to approach me on the street, and he seemed nice enough, I would probably say yes.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a hypothetical situation or based on something real. So far not getting it.

Yes...as long as it didn't require anything private. So no getting in a car or walking in a back alley.

But I met my husband at age 19 in college with no vetting process so...
