Mine is ok. I'm used to higher end wigs, but I wasn't expecting that- so its pretty much what I thought it would be. I do have a small head, so it doesn't fit me snugly. I decided to keep it anyway. The color is good and the hair feels fine- its important to me that it stays sleek, and I can tell this one will. I still haven't found someone cheap enough to cut it, so I haven't worn it much yet. It's decently comfortable. Overall, a good deal for the price I paid.

yup, 100% human hair. its Chinese hair though. the shaitel will feel coarse after a while and last you maybe a good year and a half. Enjoy! I prefer European hair... but I'm glad for the mothers who are ok with it and found a great deal!

As I mentioned before I got one and am happy with its place in my sheitel wardrobe. I love Banana but there's a time and a place for Old Navy, too, ya know? Smile

I've been optimistic about this and I don't mean to be a pessimist but...
I'm so frustrated.
My Mimi sheitel constantly gets knotted, clumps together and is very dry. I gently brush the knots out (very nervous to rip out any hairs) and I could be sitting by my desk for an hour doing paperwork and it will still get knotty!
I washed it tonight but I don't know how the knots are going to come out. I've washed my own sheitels plenty of times.
I'm going crazy!!!

OutATowner - my personal experience is that, like with anything, many will be a decent, reliable product.

Some of us get stuck with "lemons," despite people's insistence that there is no such thing.

I'm afriad you, I, and perhaps some unlucky ones have purchased subpar sheitels.

I'm sorry for your unpleasant experience.

Mine's been very average. It already looks much more "worn" after a couple of months of very infrequent wear, desite the fact that it was just washed. I'm thinking that come winter I'll wear it with little berets, with the bangs out in front and not have to worry about messing up a better wig with hat head. But it definitely hasn't been some huge bargain. Just a decent cheap sheitel. Hopefully it'll last the year - it already has some split ends and is getting dry.

I'm just very disappointed because I kept telling off all the skeptics- now I keep glancing around, worried that they realized that they were right.
What's the answer to the "sheitel crisis"? You either spend a fortune or get disappointed again... Sad

I'm very disappointed with mine and I only wore it three times! It was a total waste of money, IMO.

So I knew it would be a low end sheitel but I had hoped it would last a good yr and a half and then go to the garbage. I was hoping it would be like a wholesale priced Milano or something. (whereas a higher quality one you hope it'll look great for 3-4 yrs and then it becomes your rainy day wig) But I just don't think it'll last more than a half a yr or so and even now it doesn't look so great, just very average.

BUT it is very comfortable. I'll give it that. Also it doesn't frizz or anything.

Now I feel guilty for posting this. Maybe other people had great experiences.
Was I wrong?
Practically speaking, is there anything I can do to wear it well while I have it? Some special cream so that it doesn't frizz or knot? I washed it and it's a bit better but I feel it getting knotty already. Also, as careful as I am hairs are going to fall out and I'm nervous I won't even have a sheitel within the year!

Go to the pharmacy and buy a hot oil treatment. I can ask my shaitel macher how it's done on a wig (like if there are specific areas to avoid - the net, etc.)

Leave in spray conditioner in the back with help with the knotting at the nape. There are smoothing creams that you can use when the wig is wet or when dry (diff. ones are put on at diff. times). But the catch is, the more product you use, the sooner the wig needs a wash - the more you wash ot the sooner it dies.

I wonder how TranquilityandPeace, the OP, likes her wig at this point?

Right. And the thinner/limper the hair gets.

Hi!

I am very much enjoying my Mimi as a pony sheitel these days. I can't wear it down unless it's within a few days of being freshly blown, which is not what I expected. I do think that it's exactly the same quality as my $600 Milano pony, and more comfortable and less prone to frizzing.

I'll ask Mimi to check in with this thread and see if she has any words of wisdom.

I put in spray in conditioner and it worked for the knots but it did need to be washed sooner.
I will try to make the best of it.
ra_mom can you find out about that? I never heard of it, thanks so much!
Thanks all for your replies!
