Anyone have words of the continuation/happy ending to "the place where I belong" from Journeys 1? _________________ That's the way the cookie crumbles...

It's in a kids' book called The Place Where I Belong.
I sing my kids the happy ending every night!
After We'd all become mere echos of the past:
One day a man was standing in the aisle
He stood before me crying like a child
The he softly whispered words to me as he held me in his hands
Somehow he knew that I could understand
I am Yaakov and I've just learned you were here
Oh, you must have felt so lonely all these years
My great-grandfather was Yankele, and you belong to me
I have come to take you home, to set you free
And when he carried me outside I saw the crowd
It fillled my soul with joy, it made me proud
They sang and danced and held me high and they carried me away
To the shul where I would live, where I would stay
And as the rabbi held me close against his chest
He spoke out loud and clear to all the rest
He said no matter if you're very young or even very old
Live by the words you'll find inside this scroll
Live by the words you'll find inside my soul

Thanks isramom! This is exactly what I was looking for!
I have to go in to teach one lousy period today - an 11th grade class I haven't taught in weeks, and won't be teaching again this year, and they already had their final. So I want to teach them this song in honor of Shavuos, and I really wanted the "happy ending" version. Thank you so much!

That's because your daughter is a speaker. These were regular (rather weak) Israelis. The language was pretty hard for them. And the idea is certainly not beneath them.

It looks like this ending is a postscript to the original ending, in which the sefer Torah is put on display in a museum as an artifact of a lost world, with only its memories of a time when it was used, revered and loved.
I've never heard the "happy" ending before, but I like it a lot! _________________ I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

The audio (record/tape) ends with the Torah in a museum (sad ending).
The book, published later, added on the versus for the happy ending.
Apparently the song touched a LOT of people and they wanted a happier ending...so Abie Rottenberg complied for the book version!
