Anyone ever make tofu chocolate mousse?

I am having a vegan guest over and I remember hearing about this from someone online here. Anyone ever make it? Have a recipe?

Any other vegan ideas?

TIA

If you search for it, it should come up. Basically you drain the silken tofu as much as you can, melt chocolate chips add a little vanilla and then blend it together with a stick blender. I once added chocolate liquor and it was really.good! I love making this dessert because its really simple and not so unhealthy. Smile

This was in a Family Circle years ago.

12 oz. choc chips
3 Tbsp honey
2 boxes (10 oz each) soft silken tofu
1 prepared 9" graham cracker pie crust [I've skipped the crust, just served the mousse]

Melt choc chips. Stir in honey.
Process tofu in food processor or blender til smooth. Add choc mixture. Blen until creamy. Pour into pie crust or plate. Chill overnight.
Optional: Fold above mixture into 1 eight oz. box of whipped topping, whipped.

Don't skimp on the amount of chocolate chips, use vanilla extract or strong coffee to flavor and you can add some confectioners sugar if you want it sweeter. Other vegan desserts are fruit crumbles/crisps, fresh fruit, compote, wacky cake, various candies (truffles, buckeyes) and lots more.

here it is: http://imamother.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66747&highlight=mousse+healthy

I sprinkled sprinkles on top that's how my friend makes hers. Made it in little shnapps cups and served with tiny mini dessert spoons.

The tofu mousse with honey is not suitable for most vegans. They do not eat honey, since it is an animal product.

I think some vegans do eat honey and some dont. It would depend on why the vegan is vegan. when I was vegan it was because I was avoiding animal proteins for health reasons, so honey was fine, as it contains no animal protein. there's a whole lamdus about the kashrus of honey, coming from bees and all, which afaik, are not considered kosher enough to eat. the bees manufacture the honey but its not considered a part of them or the same type of byproduct as milk or eggs. as opposed to royal jelly, which I think has a bigger kashrus issue.
but I read this stuff a long time ago, I should google it before posting but I'm too lazy.

I make one similar, but I don't drain the tofu, just process it in the food processor and add the melted choc. chips. I've also been known to add a thing of whip to it to fluff it up a bit (and to get more volume). Really easy, everyone loves it and no one knows it's tofu. Definitely better than raw eggs. Sometimes I"ve added confectioners sugar (just a bit), if it's too bitter.
