| How do I go about finding a good school in Yerushalyim for boys? We are somewhere between chareidy and daty leumi I guess. I guess if I would just bite the bullet and wear stockings we would be considered chareidy. Please help. This is a strong determining factor in whether or not were gonna go.

Unfortunately to access the GOOD charedi schools it takes more than tights... BTDT in the research ((hugs))
Though if you are in between as in chardal, you can definitely find! _________________

I was going to suggest Rappaport. I'm not in Y-m, but my BIL & SIL send there and they've registered their 2nd for kitah aleph next year...which is saying something because my BIL is very, very picky for chinuch. _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766

I really don't know much about the different options of schools for boys, BUT I have heard that Talmud Torah "Sanhedrin" is for modern charedi families. A lot of Ameircan- Israeli boys go there.
It is at the top of Bar Ilan right near that big bridge, near Seminar Hayashan.
Good luck

| There is a chinuch atzma'I boys' school in the Jewish Quarter called Achinoam. You might want to check it out.

Ianaii - did you mean sanhedria? Thats prob where we would live. Do you think we would be frum enough for that school? Whats the criteria? What type of information is relevant about us in choosing a school? Im so lost.
My husband would be in yeshiva not because thats the "type" that we are but just because thats what were going for. Hes a professional.

More of a serious talmud torah. Actually, both but more on the talmud torah side. I just dont want my kid going through school without a strong foundation in math and science bc thats just the reality of the world I live in and its very hard to catch up in those areas.

My DS goes to Dugma. Officially it's a mamad, but there is a specific chassidic group (don't know which one) that sends their sons there too. _________________ Certified Childbirth Educator

No, it is called Sanhedrin. It is not in Sanhedria. Sorry, I do not know more, just that I have heard it is for modern Charedi families.

I really just need to know more about hte actual schools not so much about thier location. I just hope we fit in some place:(
I always end up being frinds with people that are way more frum than I am. I am frum, dont get me wrong, but for example, my best friend is yerushalmi chasedish and lives in mea shaarim. I know, its weird, but thats who my son will be plating with. I just dont wear stockings!!!! I cant do it! I cant!!!

| You don't have to. What sort of things do you want to know? Ask specific things and I'll try to answer.

Um, ok. Ill describe us rather ask specific things cuz I dont know where to start. My husband has a high possition at a large company and comes from a wealth secular (israeli) family who thinks the whole point of life is making money. He was raised with this idea so deaply ingrained in him that he has a major conflict in him self about which direction to focus (he cant focus on both. dont ask, its just not possible). he is much happier studying in yeshiva and I really dont care to be the one who bring money in as long as im not dying a slow death working at a desk job. We really want to just life that totally focussed on torah and nothing else. We dont look like were very frum but we are way mor efrum tahn most people in the way that we are privately. I want to sent my kid to the frumest school we can get into, but to also avoid as much "shtick" as possible. By "shtick" I mean focusing way way too much on external detail and not enough at all on internal growth. I want my son to LOVE torah. Like I dont need people calling around the world to find out how I tied my shoe laces when I was 6 or to ask around what colour table cloth I use for shabbos. I dont want to my son to ever grow up judging people or feeling that he is superior to his fellow Jews, becase his peyus are longer than someone elses.
Some basic facts about us:
- I only recently started wearing sheitel becuase I bought one thats abnormally comfortable and realistic looking, but I normally wear a (pretty) snude or scarf wraped around my head.
-I dont wear tights and I wear tevas, because I really really HATE tights and I need my feet to be comfortable.
- I normally wears skirts to my ankles, but occasionally I wear regular skirts to my knees. I feel better more covered up in general.
- It may be hard to emagine given my description, but I dont look shlumpy. I actually look pretty fashionable. I have a lot of designer cloths, not because I care that they are designer, but because I am particular about how things fit. I cut most of the tags out of what I have for comfort and I would NEVER wear anything thats visibly branded. I guess I probably look like a very put together version of mizrachi, but we are NOT mizrachi AT ALL.
-my husband would wear a black hat but he has a huge head and he feels silly wearing it so he doesnt. AS you can probably tell by now, we dont have such a high regard for superfluous social norms because they tend to creat division within the jewish world and I cant think of anything more destructive than that.
-we sont watch movies, dont listed to non jewish music, dont really keep non jewish books in the house for out son and if we have any for us they are in our bedroom.
-we have friends from all kinds of backgrounds, but we tend to become closest with the more frm people in out lives for some reason.
-my husband is baal teshuva and I grew up modern orthadox which I am the polar oppsite of.
I cant really think of anything else. If there is something in particular that you think is relevant just ask. I have never applied to school before so I have no idea what they look for.
