| |
I do graphic design, and one of my clients asked me if I can make a solid work file for him. I googled it and it looks like it's a 3d drawing type of thing - definitely not something I do. If anyone knows what that is, and does such a thing freelance, please either post or PM me - I told him I'd try to find someone who does it, because I don't.
Thanks!

Depends on what the job is. If it's a significant enough job, it might be worth it to outsource -- depending on the complexity you can try to find someone to do it on craigslist or one of those outsource job sites and still gain a bit of profit.
What does your client want designed?

| Yeah, I'm not quite sure, but I'm not going to bother finding out if I can't get someone to do it. He doesn't pay a lot, so while I can possibly tell him I can find someone but they charge more for this (and still take a cut, cuz this is business after all...) I have no idea where to start with this. So I wouldn't want to work with someone from craigslist just because I don't know enough about this to work with someone I don't know/trust.

Sounds like a hassle then. If you don't need the money, you can politely decline the job and suggest that he looks for a desiger more specific to the field -- a.k.a a 3D model artist, CAD artist, etc.
If it's something simple though (like a logo I guess) I can ask my husband -- he's familiar with Solidworks. If you want, feel free to PM me.

| No - I don't imagine it's simple - he wants to design candelabras or something like that.... He told me he's looking for a product designer.

Yeah, ok, pass then. That doesn't sound like a fun project at all.

| I know. I can use the money, but this just doesn't seem worth the hassle.
