I work in a frum elementary school as a 2nd grade morah.
Salaries tend to be a hushed topic, but I'm wondering if I'm getting paid "fairly", more, or less than most other Judaic studies elementary teachers.
My salary is $75/a day. ($375 a week, $1500 a month)

All kidding aside, most schools start you off low and raise you as the years go by.
The problem is, most schools are currently facing financial crises and many are not giving their teachers raises.
If you really want to get paid well, you should apply to a Modern Orthodox school that charges $18,000 a year tuition.

| I got paid $31000 a year, full time, five different classes a day, 7.45-3.15 at school every day not counting conferences, evening programs, so on. First year teaching of full-time teaching, college degree, experience teaching, and a super fancy school!

OP, that means that you are making 18K a year, unless you are also getting 1500 a month in the summer, which I doubt. I think that that is not much, even for a first time teacher. I would ask for atleast 20K a year. Do you have kids? If so, how much are you taking home after babysitting? Probably not that much.
I have been teaching for 6 years and am getting paid 26K for the morning,( 8:20-12:45) but will be going up between 2K-4K for next year.

Here morahs get payed $15-25 an hour as an elementary teacher, and $20-30 an hour as a high school teacher.
If their daughters are in the same school, they sometimes work out to pay less tuition as well.

| I actually asked a principal (afternoon) what teachers are paid and she said ranging from 14,000-28,000 depending on experience, etc.

I made $19,000 a year for a similar job and the school made me think I was paid on the upper end. Once, when I gave out paychecks after school, the envelopes were unsealed and I peeked. Everyone else was making more, even the teacher with less experience than me. I quit at the end of that year. FTR, they were all somewhere between $22K-$36K.
Yes, I know it was stealing. Sue me.

OP here.
So I guess I should assume the pay is fair?
It's my first year as a classroom teacher, I have my BA, and attended seminary 3 times.

If you are willing to work for next-to-nothing after 3 years of seminary and a BA then it's fine.
Otherwise, start job shopping. With your BA and now 1 year of experience, and a well-written resume, you should be able to start at the bottom of a decent day school, which will be much more to begin with and have much more room for growth.

I stupidly got a masters in education, left the field for more money, and took years and years and years to pay off the student loans. But hey. I use the knowledge I gained with my children.
Why does education pay so darn poorly??? ugh!

I teach preschool. 9:15-2:30. I get paid $1,400 a month and my boss feels she's giving me a mint! From this $1,400 I take off a $6 taxi one way every day which equals $120 a month. Plus $400 babysitting a month.
And I have afew years experience. Why is it so hard to find a normal paying job???
Hey! If you know anyone in Monsey looking for an experienced preschool teacher let me know on this thread and I'll set up an email address.

I am in school 17 hrs a week, I teach Grade 6, have no degree, but B"H was mentored and taught by 2 great teachers in Yr 12 how to teach, so I now mentor other teachers and am very often called upon for helping with new teachers, new students and teenage issues. I have taught for 8 yrs, now in my 9th, and I get paid around $800 a fortnight.
I have 3 kids, almost due with 4th, I pay creche and 2 kinder kids fees.
