| I remember once hearing that its cheaper to drive to Pennsylvania and fly to Israel from there. Is this true? what airline?

yes, philadelphia has international flights.

| It's not always cheaper. I've flown from there once because I got cheap tickets but IME often JFK is cheaper. Newark is usually more.

we fly israel-california, and flying through Philly using US Airways is almost always the cheapest for us

| I don't think there are blanket rules. If US airways is having a sale it may be but many times in cheapest. The main thing is just to keep looking and use search engines which can search all the airlines so you can see who gives the best price.
