| My 5 year old does not like bread, as a result won't eat it. (any form, toasted, grill cheese...) He comes home from school starved and in a very grouchy mood! I really want him to eat bread... any suggestions? (I tried prizes, charts...)

Does he not eat a lot of things? If it's just bread then there are many different lunch options. The school usually gives something besides for bread for lunch. If he likes yogurt you can send one along daily. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

| He eats yogurt and some veges but thats it. His school does not provide lunch. I feel like he really needs the carbs to fill him up.

| Maybe try crackers? My kids liked cheese crackers with American cheese. We would tear the cheese to a similar size as the cracker & make 'sandwiches'. Or other types of crackers, too. You could also try celery if he eats that with peanut butter (if its allowed b/c of allergies @school or he can eat it), cream cheese, or cheese spread. I happen to like cheese w/ apple slices or you might want to try grapes. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh! What about muffins to give him the carbs? You could put raisins, dates, nuts, etc. in them.

| Why bread? Nothing will happen if he doesn't eat bread. Send him with something else filling. More proteins (they fill you up for longer than carbs anyway) and a different carb such as rice, rice cakes, crackers, melba toast... would he do pita? tortilla?

I'm as surprised as the other posters. I hardly ever eat bread, and I'm not hungry. My kids don't eat bread too often either. How about whole grain pastas, rice cakes, pitas, crackers, hmmm a lot of these were already mentioned. And honestly, I find that protein fills me up a lot more than carbs. Is he old enough to eat nuts? Or peanut butter on celery or other foods? Or hummus? Or chunks of cheese, or tuna fish? I'd go with more protein if he doesn't seem to like carbs.
Or give him leftovers from dinner the night before, if he doesn't mind them cold. My kids don't.
