I wanted to bake a layer cake but did not have a lot of pans, so I made 3 layers of batter in 9" round pans, separated with wax paper. Do you think it will work? It was a pretty thick & creamy batter (I had to spread it instead of pouring it.) _________________ "Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."

| I don't think it will work. The weight of the cake will probably not keep the paper flat. For future, you can just bake the layers one at a time if you only have one pan.

So...did it work?
Forget it, I just realized you posted only several minutes ago...the clock on my computer is an hour off of imamother's. Is it just me?
In any case, let us know how it comes out.

| I just took it out, pick came out clean, it smells heavenly, but it's still hot. I don't want to ruin it, so I guess the moment of truth will come when it's cool enough to separate the layers...

LOL! I posted more than halfway through the baking time. Sort of pointless, I know. I should've posted BEFORE trying experiments. But this way you get to share in my experimental kitchen experience.

Oh my! I didn't mean to cause such suspense!
And the verdict is....(drumroll please)
I made 2 pans, 1 using wax paper & the other parchment paper. The parchment one came out BEAUTIFUL. In the wax one, the top layer was beautiful, but the other 2 stuck to the paper and broke a bit.
So now you have a layer cake shortcut!

| Or you can bake it with out the paper and slice it in layers after.

I am glad that it came out at the end. I hate wax paper and only buy parchment paper. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

OK, here is my halfway-flopped cake (or the half that was left of it by the time Shabbos was over.) As you can see, one of the layers crumbled. But it was delicious. I didn't ice the outside like I normally do, on purpose, to try for a different look.
