Someone please give me a recommendation for window guards that can be opened in case of a fire C"V. A plus would be if they are easy to install. Thanks!

AFAIK there is no such thing. I just had windows guards installed and they said that I had to leave one windows in the apartment with nothing on it to act as the "fire escape" window ch'v.

I have window guards that have a key that can be opened from the inside. I did not install them so I don't know where do get such a thing but it does exist. Maybe try a locksmith.

do you really think that ch'v in case of emergency, one would be able to find the key and then open the guard?

I don't think they are cheap, but my father had custom made window guards made for the basement - some iron guy did them, I can probably find out his contact info if you need it. They don't need a key to open - it's just a lever that clicks closed, but far enough in that a robber shouldn't be able to just open it himself.

I don't know where to get them but fabulous I have metal window guards on all the windows in my house and they have one end with a lock which is left without a key. It is too hard for a kid to push open but a strong man/fireman can easily open it.

The key is on a hook right on the side of the window. I really don't think one would end up using it in case of a fire c'v but I'm just saying it does exist. Hopefully we never need to use it.

I am looking into this
http://www.goodbarsecurity.com/hinged-window-bars.html

did not purchase it yet..but definitely considering it.. seems like they have a release lever low down so open in case of emergency. Still trying to figure out if these work only in a bsmt or elsewhere as well..

I have something like this, but it had to be installed by a company I think we paid about $150 per window 6 years ago. if you do plan on ordering something like this keep in mind I forgot to tell them I was getting screens for the windows so now I cant remoc=ve the screens aas the gate is to close to the window.

Thanks, but no.

Its exactly like regular window guars.

However, there is a key to open in an emergency.

I recently had a conversation with a fire department about this. he said the only one that is legal and safe is a very expensive (I think about $400) gate that can be opened only from the inside by unlocking it with your finger. (this way you do not need to keep a key on hand) based on what he was describing to me it is close interlocking metal in order that it cannot be opened from the outside (like by a robber) but can be opened in case of an emergency from the inside.
also, he said that while your landlord is responsible to put in window guards, you are responsible for the one that will be safe to open in case of emergency.
Good luck!

I bought window guards that open in Homedepot. On my first floor I put on full gates with an iron man. The ones that open cost $150.
