I have more comfy casual clothes for home and change when I go out.
How do you answer the door if you're in pj's? Doesn't anyone ever drop by? friends? deliveries? UPS? | If someone comes to the door, I answer it, in what I am wearing. In my home, I dress how I feel. I sometimes have a hat by the door, but if not, I answer without the hat on and stay in my pants and t shirt. No big deal. |
Why isn't it a big deal? |
Because for those of us who answer the door in a t-shirt and pants, answering the door in a t-shirt and pants isn't a big deal
Tautological, I know. |
Then it shouldn't be a big deal to dress in t-shirt & pants outside the house either. Some of us don't get hypocrisy. |
Some people hold that they don't need to cover hair inside of their home even if they have visitors. Some people on this forum are MO and wear pants and t-shirts inside and outside of their home. Welcome!

| If I stayed in my pyjamas all day I wouldn't do anything. I don't feel like I can get anything done until I am fully dressed. I hate putting clothes on and taking them off, I'd rather be uncomfortable or bored than have to change.

Why isn't it a big deal? | Because, like sequoia said, for some of us, it is just not a big deal to answer the door in pants and no head covering. Once I am in my home, I dont need to cover any more and yes, there are poskim that say that even if a man was to come and not be a relative it would be ok too.

I dont wear a skirt in my home and I never cover my hair at home and AGAIN, there are poskim that say this is just fine.

Just to clarify my position Shabbat - I have no problem with pants, indoors or outdoors - I just don't feel dressed in PJ's - and certainly wouldn't answer the door in them - whether the PJ's were pants or dress/shift.
Like Shnitzel, getting dressed helps me start my day and not just waste my time (like reading the news or imamother). I remember reading Flylady a while back and she recommends lacing up your shoes first thing in the morning. - Well, my shoes don't have laces - but she has a point.
When I change into PJ's at night - I'm finished for the day, I watch TV or read or whatever.

I wouldn't open the door in a nightgown except MAYBE to the cleaning lady? But again I also wouldn't wear a shabbes robe to the table unless I was really sick. Sleeping with a bra must be so painful except maybe a small size? _________________
