My baby is seven weeks old and has been nursing well until a few days ago. Suddenly she became constantly qvetchy and was better after having a bottle. She also started fussing at the breast, constantly pulling off. What'd wrong and how can I fix it? I have been giving her some formula to supplement thusfar, but don't want to mess up the nursing. Is this just a growth spurt or something more?

Could it be a reaction to your Pesach diet?

It could happen with a cold or ear infection. It becomes painful for them to nurse.

I had a similar problem when my son was about 8 weeks old or so...it turned out that I had overactive let down, which meant that when my milk let down, it gushed too hard and fast into my baby's mouth, causing him to pull away and fuss. That may be why he likes the bottle better, the milk is coming in more evenly. There are a few solutions, but the one that worked for me was letting the milk spray into a diaper clothe when it let down, and then put my baby on to suck. Look at the web site kellymom.com for more ideas.
