I don't know anything about allergy issues, but I think the hazelnut oil gave a really good taste to my baked goods.

I'm not so worried about the eggs, especially since it doesnt last that long. I make a fresh batch every other week. BTW, homemade ice cream has raw eggs, as well as most of the national brand ice creams (Edy's, Turkey Hill, etc.)

Why not? I never heard of this.

Certainly, but if one wants to use it they can either make it themselves or buy the KLP one.

Sure, you can. But as it happens, I make my own mayonnaise all year round, so whipping up a fresh batch today was no biggie. I wouldn't touch the commercial stuff either way, and I really like my cole slaw.

I'd like to point out a few things, respectfully.

To make mayonnaise without eggs, search the internet for "vegan mayonnaise recipe." There are many.

Same for ice cream without raw eggs - you can make ice cream without eggs, or with a cooked custard base.

The Turkey Hill ice cream flavors we use do not have eggs at all. Some - but far from all - of Edy's flavors have eggs as an ingredient. My understanding is that eggs used in commercial ice cream are pasteurized.

A well-known ice-cream related food poisoning outbreak was related to contamination with eggs (search "Schwan's" for details). Raw eggs do not always cause illness (obviously, as you use quite a few of them), especially if you are careful to use uncracked eggs and use perfect kitchen safety techniques, but they can. Personally, I would not use any foods with raw eggs as an ingredient.

Thank you. I really appreciate that you took the time to type that for me. I really do like my mayo recipe, and I do agree that not all flavors have raw eggs, alot do. I really should get off my lazy bu** and find pasteurized eggs in one of the supermarkets, but it's on the list of 'one day I'll get to it' Wink

I'm not going to eat raw eggs. And we don't used most processed foods for Pesach, so it's not worth it to search for vegan recipes.

After reading this thread, I crossed Bisli off the shopping list. Also crossed off the chicken soup flavor. The article is right, if you cook enough chicken for long enough the soup will lack no flavor.

I cook the chicken soup with soup vegetables like parsley, celery, root vegetables, kolrabi, onion. the taste beats any soupmix. chicken necks add good taste
