| |
I still have a bsg of couscous that I want to use up tomorrow. (Will serve it in non Pesach area on paper goods) I am going to be out most of the day and was thinking of putting up supper in the crockpot/slow cooker. I have only ever done cholent or chicken IP and potatoes in the crockpot. I know people do chicken and rice. Think I could do chicken an couscous in the crockpot? If yes, how? Please help, or I might have to throw out the whole bag and just make potatoes-need supper ready when I get home.
Thanks!

I don't see why you couldn't do it. It might end up mushy but most crockpot stuff does Couscous is pasta - not a grain itself - so requires a far shorter cooking time than rice or even quinoa.

Thanks fr replying even at such hectic times!
So can I just put it in at the bottom of the pot and put chicken bottoms on top and add spices and water and cook till I get home? Think it with be edible? Or should it go on top of the chicken? Or maybe only added in later? (Not such a good option because it means supper won't be ready right when we walk in an my kids will be hungry and cranky) should I put an onion at the bottom like I do with potatoes?

I would throw it in the bottom of the pot, put chicken on top, spices on chicken, add water and daven. _________________ Liba, mommy to Zlata Tova 5/6/98, Tziporah Faiga 1/12/01, Esther Rivka 7/13/04 and Avraham Chaim 7/2/2006

Is it the kind of couscous that you just pour boiling water over and let sit for 10 minutes?
If so, put up chicken in the morning with spices. Add in couscous straight when you get home with exactly double the water (boiling) and some seasonings. It should be ready 10 minutes later.

I don't think its the instant type, I will check in a few minutes. If it isn't I will do as liba said and hope for the best! Worst case, we will only eat the chicken and I will make baked potatoes in the microwave.
Thanks for all the input!d
