My 4yo DD, who was fully toilet trained for over a year, even for nights, all of a sudden from one day to the next started wetting herself. At first it was only in school. She would come home wet and tell me it was because they were davening or doing an activity and the teacher doesn't let them leave the classroom. At that point I didnt make a big deal out of it because it was right before Chanuka break and I thought if the issue carries on after that then I'd deal with it then.

But then she started wetting herself at home, at night, pretty much all the time. Her doctor said it might be caused by constipation, so we treated that, but it didnt help.

At one point it seemed to be getting better, but now its worse than ever. She tells me it just comes, she doesn't feel it but I see her jumping and dancing, but if I ask her if she needs the bathroom, or if I tell her to go, she gets really upset, and says I dont need I just like dancing, its good to dance. If I take her and sit her on the toilet she cries and cries that she doesn't need and she holds herself not to go.

Besides for the fact that the whole issue of her wetting herself is unpleasant, I hate what its causing to our relationship. She gets so upset and angry when I bring it up, but I have to because she is very often wet. I really really dont know what to do.

I'm sorry this turned into such a long post but if anyone got to the end of it and has any ideas for me, I will appreciate.

you say - "all of a sudden" - I think you need to find the reason that triggered this, whether at home or at school - it certainly isn't for no reason.

Try the doctor again. Could it be a urinary tract infection? If not, I'd ask the teacher what goes on there, and I'd stop in and check if the bathrooms are clean in the gan.

OP here
I've definitely been trying to pinpoint the trigger, but I cant think of anything that happened at the time. Now its 3 months later, and sometimes I think its now become a bad habit for her, often she doesn't even realise when she is wet. The problem is since she is older and also has a very stubborn personality its proving to be very difficult to 'retrain' her, so to speak.

UTI? maybe, I hadn't thought of that. I'll speak to the doctor about that, thank you.
The bathrooms in school? No they are not clean. We had issues with that at the beginning of last year, but once we had resolved that she was fine.
Also, it did start only in school, but now she is wetting herself at home too, all the time. She just point blank refuses to use the bathroom. It is so frustrating.
