Easiest way is to use store bought puff pastry dough. Then either take regular hot dogs, wrap them in the dough and cut them into pieces (its easier to cut them after they're wrapped), or buy "cocktail franks" and wrap each one with a strip of dough. Bake on a greased baking sheet at about 375 F until the dough looks puffed out and cooked.

Thanks for your help.
Do you smear anything on the flaky dough before putting on the franks.
I would smear the top with eggs and sprinkle with sesame before baking.

I just wrap the franks in teh dough and bake. I do a whole roll. Lay hotdogs, roll over dough, cut, repeat.

You can put some mustard/ketchup on the dough before you roll it.

I do brush with eggs if I have time -- my kids don't like sesame seeds, but that would definitely work. My mother sometimes brushes it with duck sauce before baking -- it gives it a bit of a sweet flavor.

I usually do plain puff pastry dough but you could do eggs (or water) and sesame seeds, if you want.

The duck sauce idea sounds yum!!!

My apologies for going to immediate reactions Wink
An FYI: the cocktail franks in the store now are a meat chicken blend. For franks in blanks I would use full beef.

Whenever I have company I make some up real quick. It's usually a big hit.
I make a pancake batter (soy milk or apple juice, some sugar, salt, egg, a tbs of oil, and baking powder) and cut the hot dogs in small pieces. Then dump them in to the batter and spoon them, one by one, onto a heated and oiled skillet. Cook them like little pancakes.

Meal mart sells them in a box. You get 12 mini ones. I actually have 6 boxes in my freezer leftover from my purim seudah. Care to buy them off of me?

I've used regular challah dough, yummy! I don't really like oily flaky dough. I recently made knishes that had a really nice dough, I would consider using that for franks too.
