my 5 week old was born very big - and he didn't gain much wait.

the dr. is concerned and did blood tests and is sending me to get a echo tomorrow - the dr. felt maybe he heard a small murmer
I'm not so concerned - is there reason to be ? do I have to worry about the lack of weight gain?

I didnt want to read and not post so just want to say that I hope everything is ok.

Are you sure that he is eating enough? Is he nursing or bottle-fed? Also, sometimes big babies lose a bunch and then gain really slowly. My dd was born 8 lb 4 oz and did not get back to her birthweight until she was 2 months old. I have no idea why she was born big but now, at 14 months she weighs 15.5 pounds, which is completely off the chart.

thanks he is nursing with an occasional bottle but now I will add more bottles. I do think it's just that he was so big and I'm not so concerned as a mother I feel he's healthy and he doesn't seem sick b'h.
I will do the followups the dr wants and will continue to bring him to be weighed.
