I don't use cans with dents, however, I know many who do! What do you think is it right to give a can(s) to a food pantry/gemach?

A can with a dent is only dangerous if it is punctured. Air can get in and spoil the food. A dent from being dropped or transported badly is usually not a problem.

So even if you wont use it, why not give it to s/o who would?
