I would very much like to mail a special mishloach manos to the Lubavitcher sheluchim who helped us tremendously during a medical emergency some years ago. I seem to recall that Lubavitch keeps extra-stringent minhagim in regard to kashrus - is it inappropriate to mail them some homemade challah (my standard mishloach manos)? It's pareve, yoshon, etc... I just feel funny sending only pre-packaged items when I'd really like to send something special.

TIA!

do the shluchim eat in your house? it really depends on how well they know you and if they trust you.

If you keep similar standards of kashrus to a lubavitcher, they might eat it. (chalav yisrael, good hechsherim, but not yoshon)

Its so nice that youre thinking if them! I would say that if they don't really know you, to better buy something then send something homemade.

Lubavitchers are generally not makpid on yoshon, but are on most other things.
Similar to the advice already given- it would probably depend on how well they know you and your standards. Personally, if it was me, and I knew you have generally the same standards as far as reliable hechsherim for ingredients etc, I would be more than happy to accept it, and would also appreciate a small note letting me know which oven it was baked in. (Just a side note- if you do not keep cholov yisroel, then bake it in your fleishig oven)

This is really nice of you to do!

Thanks so much for the replies!

I used only heimish ingredients (except for stuff like sugar and vanilla - basics, etc - which are of course OU), baked it in a pareve oven, mixed it on my pareve counter... etc etc.

They live across the country, so they've never eaten at my house - they took us in when we needed it most and we've never been able to repay their hospitality yet!! But I would think they would eat at my house - we eat only chalav yisroel, chassidishe shechita, no unchecked lettuce, etc etc. I'm just concerned that there's some aspect of halachos that only Lubavitch is makpid on, and I"m unaware of...

Thanks again for the replies! A freilichen Purim!

Its only pesach where lubavitch gets crazy. During the year, its just normal strict. Unless youre sending meat which I doubt.
Maybe you can enclose a note detailing what ingredients you used and how it was baked.

that sounds wise. personally, I don't eat home-made things made by someone that I don't know well; personally, I would prefer store-bought in that case.
