My digital camera broke

Does anyone know what I can do. I have a canon S400. When I bought it I paid almost 500 dollars. Now it's going for like in the two hundreds. Anyway, it broke, I called the company and they said to repair it will be 120 dollars. I think that's insane- especially since I paid so much money for it in the first place. Does anyone know where I can get it fixed for cheap- or does anyone have any advice. I'm so upset because I missed pictures from succos, my daughter, and now my anniversary. I'm a very big picture taker- so I feel lost when I don't have my camera.

the best place to get it fixed is through the company alone if you were happy with the camera I would say repair it and you will have it for awhile longer if you do not know what you want to do if you are considering a brand new buy a disposable camera until you have a normal one so you do not miss out on the picture taking.

Do not get it fixed, buy a new one and NOT A CANNON.

We had a Cannon A70 and 18 months later it broke, the lens was stuck out and wouldn't take any pictures. IF this is the problem with your camera Cannon says that there is a large possibility it will happen again. Apparently, there is a big lawsuit because of this.

The lens is stuck- I pushed itback in. Very time I want to turnt he camera on it makes crazy noises. I didn't hear about this lawsuit- can we get anything out of it??? You think I should e-mail the company. By callin them it got me no where.

My Canon A520 broke recently.

Did we have to register it to be part of the 'lawsuit' ?

I was happy with the pictures it took, just do not think it is
now worth the money to fix it.

There is a new A570 for $199, now that is similar.

For your S400, you can now get the SD650 for $400 or less.
That line of Canons are better -- they have a solid metal body and
smaller size to fit in you purse.

I think they would break no matter what brand - not jus Canon.
The fact that they are digital makes it all more delicate.

How did yours break ?

I hear they're making them worse these days so they won't last...
MY HP's LCD screen broke recently. They'd give me a refurbished one for almost the price I can buy it new elsewhere...I heard Canon's warranty is better...I guess not!

Well, I guess I was kinda lucky that a child with disabilities dropped mine. bec. the state's gonna give me the money back.
I had a Sony Cybershot DSCP92
I had liked it and when I bought it, it was one of the better ones. now I see it as such a klutz, being that there are much more sleek ones out there, and they cost cheaper then what I paid.
I had paid 450. B"h that I still was able to get the receipt (it was from B&H) and I'm waiting for the state to repay me.

then I really don't know which one I'm gonna buy bec. I want a lot of specific features.

I bought my 5 megapixel Fuji Finepix S5200 off of B&H online. The camera cost me under $250 (I had it shipped to CT so there was no tax).

I am SO thrilled with my camera. I have some new photos to upload, then I'll repost the link to the album here so you can see what kind of images this camera puts out.

Does anybody know where I can repair a Sony DVD cam? my son broke the little screen off of the machine..I hope its repairable...would B and H do it ? thanks if anyone has info!

you have to sign up to be part of the lawsuit, I am not sure if we did at the end I know my husband spoke to (or emailed) the lawyers handling the suit. if you google cannon error e 18 and lawsuit I am sure it sill show up.

we ended up buying a new camera from Band H , a sony cybershot and are really happy so far, the pictures are really clear and the screen is larger than with other cameras.
