I bought chili powder for a recipe that I wanted to make but now I can't remember what recipe or where I saw it. Any ideas? What do you use chili powder for?
Thanks!

Vegetarian Black Bean Chili
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cups chopped onions
1 2/3 cups coarsely chopped red bell peppers (about 2 medium)
6 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 15- to 16-ounce cans black beans, drained, 1/2 cup liquid reserved
1 16-ounce can tomato sauce
Chopped fresh cilantro
Sour cream
Grated MontereyJack cheese
Chopped green onions
Heat oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat. Add onions, bell peppers, and garlic; sauté until onions soften, about 10 minutes. Mix in chili powder, oregano, cumin, and cayenne; stir 2 minutes. Mix in beans, 1/2 cup reserved bean liquid, and tomato sauce. Bring chili to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until flavors blend and chili thickens, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Ladle chili into bowls. Pass chopped cilantro, sour cream, grated cheese, and green onions separately.

I use it to spice chicken and potatoes, and baked potato "fries." Also spanish rice, yum.
I also love this meat sauce recipe, I definitely add more chili powder than it calls for- http://imamother.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=56745

I usually use chili flakes, and I put it in almost everything (yes, including mac and cheese) a small amount goes along way and enhances any flavor. Also of course, great in chili, cholent, potatoes, chicken, Israeli salad, any tomato based sauce, etc. etc. etc. _________________ גשם, גשם בוא!

chili powder is a spice mix of paprika, cayenne, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, etc.

is it the "hot" chili powder as in "hot red pepper" ?
or is it the chili powder I have at home which adds a great flavor to chicken/meat/cholent/kishka... but is not at all "hot"?!?!?! if its the hot one u need to use it with caution as you can over-spice it then its too hot. the one I have I don't like in veg, or cheese... I use it as a meat/chicken spice in any recipe

I use it as a meat/chicken spice in any recipe | powder means that it's a mix = not pure.
Like chili powder = spice mix, garlic powder = garlic granules mixed with anti-caking agents, etc.
If it says ground or flakes, it's pure.
