I cry

I cry.
the pain inside too much to bear.
the pulling, the shoving
leading to despair.
protecting the light
from what I can't comprehend.
yet, you, of all people
continue to be my friend.
People tell me, go away -
run far far away.
never to look back
at the tear stricken face.
Others believe,
it's all in your head,
never to have heard
what the light truly said.
This battle has shattered
my most internal space.
How can I? How can we
ever be the same?
my strength, my agility
has become something other.
I'm becoming afraid
of dropping that now fragile space
called mother.
I cry.
