"non jewish" stores tend typically not to carry duvet covers, but rather flat (top) sheets.

Interesting. Growing up, we lived in an area without "Jewish stores" (well, unless you count Macy's, Bamberger's, Bloomingdales's, Fortunoff, Abraham & Strauss, etc...) and I never noticed a lack of duvet covers, although flat sheets sets were more popular. What makes duvet covers more "Jewish"??

From my experience, duvet covers are used in Europe (and Israel) and flat sheets are more popular in the US.

DrMom it also confuses me! lol
I hardly buy anything in a "Jewish" store, and do not find them better priced or even more appropriate tznius wise as a whole.

What am I searching for if I want that bottom sheet, the thing that covers my comforters, and a pillow cover?

if I get a full set[for a 48"] I cant use the duvet cover (without alteration) if I get twin set I cant use the sheet
if I get proper alteration I am not sure how much it pays unless somebody has some ideas?

If you can find the items separately, you can buy full size sheets (they're a drop too big but I wouldn't bother taking them in) and full or twin size duvet covers, depends if you care about the duvet cover completely covering the sheets/mattress.

Dust ruffles are more tricky. I bought full size & had s/o make them smaller.

I have bought flat sheets on sale & sewn them together to make my own duvet covers. (Or you may have access to a seamstress who's not expensive).

1. You can use a zipper, velcro, buttons, or just leave it open!
2. Make the cover slightly smaller than the quilt

Lands End sometimes has them on sale but usually by the time there's a really good sale, you won't find all the parts of the set available. Here's a duvet cover and sham.
And here's one in twin only.

$250???? that's crazy! You can find really pretty stuff at Target, I was actually there today looking at sheets.

you can buy a full set at marshall's for about $29.99 - then buy a cheap flat sheet and sew it to the top sheet from the set - viola you now have a duvet cover ... most blankets are going to be standard and the fitted sheet can be tucked in or sewn in ... why on earth anybody buys 48" mattresses is beyond me - nisht ahin un nisht ahere - no wonder you're paying through the roof for a basic item

I don't know what types of stores your shopping in, but pretty much every store that carries sheets has duvet covers.

oops, it was $25 for the sheet set I ordered to go with it. the duvet set was the duvet cover with matching pillow sham. I got the twin size for around $15.

here's the link:

it's polyester, but I got it for my guest beds. it looks nice, and no one's using it daily. I got cotton flannel sheets to go with it:

my beds are 48 inch but I already have the 48 inch sheets so I want to get away cheaper and not buy in frum stores where the sets are expensive... so I would match my sheets to a set ....where is the best place to buy nice duvet covers-( thats the covers for the comfortors) with the pillow cases....? any ideas? and it should be soft and decent quality not too much money....

What size beds are 48"? I was looking online and saw twins were less than that, fulls/doubles were more than that...

Thank you for asking this question! The only place I have heard of 48" beds are here on imamother and also in the Chinese auction booklets. Greenfire said, why would anyone buy this size? To make buying bedding more expensive than it has to be?

And off topic, but OMG who on earth does OP have to say "goyeshe" stores??? Seriously OP? I never thought of BBB or Target or Macys as goyeshe. Just cheaper and more sensible, and less snooty. Sorry for the little rant, but that makes me crazy.

and PS - I just got an awesome new bedding set at BBB for $40. Comforter, 2 pillow shams, 3 decorative pillows and dust ruffle. And its SO soft. Then I walked over to another goyeshe store (Target. They sell ham there) and got sheets for $50. Also insanely soft, washed like a dream, and the workers were so nice and helpful.
I've walked into shops in BP and ran out of there so fast. Rude people and stiff sheets, no helpful workers, the lady was on her cell phone the whole time I was in there and asked for help but was asked to wait until she finished her conversation... Nothing was open to feel the quality.

We're letting OP get away with 'goyeshe' in a thread title???

you know why ? cause this is an old thread brought up ... I suppose we can chastise her anyhow:
albeit dr mom did address it rather mildly:

okay OP & all of us who let her get away using derogatory names ... first off just cause there are jewish stores does not mean the rest are 'goyeshe' -

second off the worldly stores are not usually rip-offs and have more selection - so unless you need a streimel or gartel it would be penny-wise to not fall into the schematics of buying jewish sized beds so that you can only buy bedding from jewish stores ...

greenfire, the reason I got 48" beds is that 39" beds were too small, and there was simply not enough room for 2 full size 54" beds.

I buy 54" sheets, which work well enough. I also bought 54" dust ruffle & stitched it up in the middle (the part that doesn't show & lies under the mattress) so that the sides don't drag on the floor. Twin duvet covers for my twin size quilts. Works great.
