I don't know if we'll ever beat cystic fibrosis
And I don't know if amor vincit omnia
And I don't know where to find you

But

Clap for Tinkerbell, clap, do you believe in fairies?
Oh yes, I hear laughter in the stars and the wind,
Laughter in the meowing of cats curled up content,
Too lazy to move, little furry tractors,
Woolen motors vibrating on my legs;
In the smell and crinkle of a new book
Waiting seductively, covered, full of intention;
Laughter in the wind that whistles in our old windowpanes,
Creaky, drafty, darn you cold wind, but in the whistling
Mischievous laughter.

Shall I write of your love for Stephen King or nailpolish?
Shall I go on helplessly about your beauty?
Shall I re-read your Russian, English, muscular, angry words,
Full of intent, full of caresses?

Shall I remember you when I hear "Sixty-five roses"?
Shall I snuggle my cats?
Shall I sink back in fear from rage at Hashem?

Clap for Tinkerbell, clap, do you believe in fairies?
Oh yes, oh yes.

That's beautiful. Would you like to share the background?

I hope no one will be reluctant to critique it because of the subject matter.

The usage of "Clap for Tinkerbell, clap, do you believe in fairies" in the beginning and end, gave me a feeling as if I am walking into a magical place. It created such a strong setting and I felt a strong rhythm throughout each line. It was really magical.

I'm not a great writer but I treasure the times I am moved by a written piece.

Incredible writing, powerful imagery, covering a range of emotions. And ending with hope.

I said "oh," out loud, like someone punched me.

It hit me, from your heart to mine.

Beautiful.

The Poem is beautiful , I LOVE all the cat references . Its hard to lose a dear friend ,I lost a very close one back in august (she never told me she was terminally sick so that I would not be sad during my pregnancy and pp )
I wish I had your talent to honor her memory with such profound words. Hug

I reread your poem every time the topic pops up. Even the title moves me every time. I hope that you and her family will find comfort.
