English Name for Avigdor

Anon because dont want anyone to know the s-x of the baby...We just found out its going to be a boy bshaa tova and Avigdor is most probably going to be the name. I am planning on calling him (and having everyone else call him) Avi. Not so interested in Avigdor as a legal name. Any suggestions for an English/legal name for legal purposes only that sounds sorta like Avigdor? What do you think about using Avi as a legal name?

First thing that came to mind was Andrew.

I have a nephew named Avraham, called Avi. His legal name is also Avi.

I know a Victor/Avigdor.

Most of the Avigdor's I've known have were Victor.

I kind of like having Avi as his legal name, so he won't have to explain to people that he goes by a nickname or anything.

I know an Avigdor whose English name is Avi Victor. I think it's a little weird and I would just go with Avi. Why make the kid have to keep track of his Hebrew name, his nickname AND his English name?

It's a common combo! People have assumed my saba is Avigdor bc he chose the secular name Victor for his papers after the war (his name is totally unlinked, and he was inspired by his aunt name Victoria who was Itte Laughing

). Victor is also often Chaim through common sounds with vie, Vidal etc.

OP here...thanks for all the suggestions. so the Avigdor's english name was Victor, but I think it sounds very old sounding, eventhough its just for legal purposes, I dont really want to use it. Interesting though to the person who wrote Chaim, that was his middle name. (But we arent using it, because its my living grandfather's name).

I also know an avigdor/victor. I know an avigdor who goes by avi, also. Smile

avery was the first name I thought of.

if you don't like "a" names, you could do names that go with the end of the name, like...
