On the ob/gyn ultrasound that's taken at twenty weeks in EY, the doctor has to fill out the gender of the patient (not the one in utero). The computer form clearly states on top: OB/GYN

I actually get this one- was he born in 2011, a few weeks ago, or in 2012, more recently within the past 11 days?
Wait- when did you register him? As soon as he was born, when it was still 2011?

Today. But I did say December as I gave the date before the year. I didn't bother say the year as I thought it was obvious.
Mazel tov, btw Smile

Thanks Very Happy

Someone told me that a friend asked, "You're nearing the end?" She said she was just in her seventh month. The friend was like, "Oh, ,twins!!"

My neighbors start offering to take my kids when I'm in my 6th month. From month 6 - 9 I get comments that I must be due any moment (I do carry HUGE). One friend even commented that I look larger then a different friend who had triplets. Shocked

I had an unplanned homebirth (labor started, stalled, then restarted and went very quickly). I called my health insurer to add my child to my insurance. When the CSR asked if I'd delivered at the hospital I'd registered at, I explained about the homebirth. Then she asked, "Was it a vaginal birth or a c-section?"

I think the CSR was so used to going through the checklist of questions that she didn't think before she asked.

Ha, this is my favorite one.

Here's one for you Israeli folks: When I had my baby we had not yet qualified for Bituach Leumi, so obviously, among other things, did not get maanak leidah. A year later, we did qualify, and as the clerk was giving me all our BL information, I asked her how to go about getting maanak leidah retroactively. She said "how do we know you haven't already received it when you had your baby a year ago?" Shocked Shocked Shocked To which I said "....uh, because I only existed in your computer as of 10 seconds ago???" Nope, not good enough. I had to go BACK to the hospital to get a note from them proving I did not receive maanak leidah. (Of course they said, we don't deal with that, go to Bituach Leumi...... sigh)

Two months after I got married: "Are you pregnant?"

Probably very interested in sharing that with you...

Someone asked me that ONE MONTH after my wedding! I was so shocked I just answered "no" (I knew I wasn't) then the person asked "How do you know?"

A couple of weeks ago when I was in my 6th month of pregnancy, someone said to me "Wow! You are the same size as X and her baby is due in less than a week!"

I went to see an endocrinologist and when I was telling my mum what happened in the appointment I said "When he was trying to determine whether anyone in the family has any hormonal imbalances he asked me if my father was going bald" and my Mum replied with a shocked expression "And is he?!" (They were married!) We both laughed so much. She had meant to ask me if that was significant!

I was 18, at a GYN for the first time, getting an internally and the nurse who was in there (for security reasons, they insisted on having a woman in the room) said to me, very condescending "Dont worry honey, you are still a v!rg!n"

(I wrote it that way on purpose to make sure the censor monster doesnt eat my word)

Really?!?! Rolling Laughter

that is so dumb but so not...as someone said its such a routine questions it probably just came out. Its like you say to someone x had a baby girl and they reply mazel tov what did she have?! Laughing

A friend told me she knows s1 who is married 1 yr and not preg. She was out and a third person said to her your necklace is very nice. I know why your dh got it for you. So this girl said why? So she said because your sil was married a yr and no kids so your brother got her a gift so your dh did too.!!!!

Dumb or insensitive? More like totally obnoxiously stupid!

This doesn't have the humor that many other replies have, but it happened years ago and am still dumbstruck by it.

A dear friend had a mastectomy and was home post-surgery. A neighbor was visiting her and was complaining about the cost of all the work she had to have done on her car. My friend said, "Isn't it better to have your kind of expenses than mine?"

The response -- "At least yours are deductible."

I would write a follow-up sentence to this, but I'm dumbstruck again.

My premature son had to be rushed to a regional medical center. While registering when him in peds, I gave his name. A relative with the same name had been treated there also. The woman then said that my son's date of birth was _______. This would have put him in his eighties.
