| |
So once again I agreed to head our schools annual theme night supper. Its a fund raiser for the school. The theme we chose is "WRAP IT UP".
So aside from the obvious-wraps, I need ideas for soup, sides, salads, and desserts.
What I plan to do is have a bunch of different options to choose for the wrap. So far its:
chicken strips
thin sliced meat or ground beef
lettuce
tomatoes
sauteed veggies
cole slaw
More ides needed-please
TIA

could you bake some sort of brownie or cake in a square shape or cut with square cookie cutter and then put ribbon around it both directions to look like a wrapped up gift,
or you could do cannolis cuz it's rolled up,
for sides what about the green bean, carrot tied with a scallion, there were a couple of things with stuff wrapped around it in cookbooks recently, pastrami around green beans... that may be tacky though to have too many things wrapped up,
is it buffet, I get the feeling it is from the wraps fillings idea so how about having regular salads or sides and decorating the table like stacks of present boxes wrapped up etc... and things around it on the tables

Franks in blankets or hush puppies are a good idea for the kids menu.
Its not buffet. People will get to choose what goes on their wrap, but it will be done by servers. I like the brownie wrapped idea.
Wrapping veggie bundles is great but too time consuming.

So wrap the wraps with a scallion.
Potato and meat parcels (also tied with scallion)
Cookies with candy inside
Soup - you can do onion soup with dough on top
salad - salad in a taco bowl (or in a huge lettuce leaf)
Side - something two toned - like a sweet potato and potato roll cut in slices _________________ For every minute of anger, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.

| One of the magazines, sorry I don't rememberwhich one, or when it was, had an idea to make challa looking like a present. It was four small challa rolls baked together, so they were attached, and then a ribbon and bow over it. Sorry I didn't give a good description, but maybe someone else who reads this will be able to help more....

potato knishes
chicken kiev- thin shnitzel with a piece of pastrami on top, roll it up and put a frilly toothpick on top. But that may be a lot if you're having wraps to.

Thanx for the ideas. We are getting together tomorrow to work on the menu and these ideas will come in very handy.
DD says to play "rap" music at the even. Cute idea, but that kind of music just wont go.
