raza gowns are $140 plus I'll need them hemmed and they're mostly polyester!

Almost all frum nice Shabbos robes are polyester the cotton ones are more like housecoats. I find the Raza robes very comfortable and I wore my last one almost every Shabbos for years so I found it well worth the price.

I also like the Raza robes, but I feel saddened that there's really like no other online options out there (now there's thelingerieshopny.com, but AFAIK that's it). I actually really like this one from thelingerieshopny but it's more sleepwear (oh, and no zipper...) than Shabbos robe. But it's oh-so-pretty!

http://www.thelingerieshopny.com/productdetails.php?pid=719&cid=2&sid=2

If anyone knows of any other websites that sell Shabbos robes please please post!

Oh, and I wanted to add another option -- we have a clothing gemach where I live that often has robes. I've picked up a few there that I sleep in or cook in, and even found one for my best friend (pretty much the exact kind she was looking for - for free Laughing ) who was searching for a simple black cotton robe w/zipper to wear to sleep since now her oldest is getting to the age where she can't just jump out of bed to the bathroom in a nightie...
So - if you have a local clothing gemach, give it a shot (and don't knock it till you try it!). 8)

I understand if you object to this suggestion...but I find that Muslim clothing websites often sell items that are perfect for Shabbos robes (and other modest stuff) for good prices. If you're open to the options, look for what they call dresses or jilbabs. This is the kind of thing I mean, which might fit your requirements:

http://shukronline.com/wd1721.html
http://shukronline.com/wd1741.html
http://shukronline.com/wd0792.html (this is a jersey knit dress with a button placket, and the item description suggests that it's good for breastfeeding mothers)

I went on the site. Why is there a zipper on the bottom? Any ideas?

Honestly I'm not sure I'd support the Muslim site. Better to put the money to support a Jewish business.
Also, you never know where your money might end up if you put it in these hands... sorry. :-/

sometimes people put zippers in random places for aesthetic reasons...or it could be a potential slit, if you're so inclined?

These tops are from the H&M website, something like this, coupled with a long skirt, is a cheap version of the two piece robe.

Totally off-topic, but am I the only one who does a double take EVERY time I see the name "Underworld Plaza"? The name is more similar to the tattoo parlors and "deviant, alternative" clothing stores on Melrose in LA than Boro Park... I know they sell cotton robes and bulletproff hosiery and underwear in the heart of Chassidish Brooklyn, but the name always makes me think they sell stuff a whole lot kinkier...

(Though who's to say they're not? Twisted Evil )

does anyone have suggestions for a good robe pattern? I've made a few, but had to adapt a dress or tunic pattern to make it into a robe. I'd love a pattern that's ready to go!(not Burda, please)

this is really a topic for another thread...all I'll say here is that I understand why people would be uncomfortable with it, but I've also seen Muslim women in frum Boro Park stores, buying Shabbos robes to use as abaya and jilbab. Finding places of commonality is a good thing.

if you want to start a thread about this issue somewhere else, I imagine it would turn into something big and colorful and probably volatile, but potentially thought-provoking as well.

If I wasn't nursing, it would be a good option but I need a front zipper.

I found some things in raza but I'm nervous about their sale policy. Anyone know how they run?

I'm a 12-14 and I wear a large in Raza. You'd really be better off trying them on in person unless you're the type that looks good in everything.

I'm trying to avoid going to a store (I would need to travel which just makes it all that much more complicated).

I have no idea what size I am now but I can measure myself. Are the measurements provided by the website accurate or is it allowing for tznius room or for a very fitted look?

Any opinions on these? I am short and the skirts see a bit full- would that be unflattering? (I'm overweight from having a baby)

http://www.razadesigns.com/gallery/details.asp?CA=29&id=1205 its more expensive than the next one, don't know if it's worth it.

http://www.razadesigns.com/gallery/details.asp?CA=29&id=1404 $50 less and not as nice but simpler might be better. nervous about the absolute return policy.
