| |
| Help, I just went to the cupboard to take out something and accidentally dropped a glass jar of olive oil which shattered all over the kitchen floor. How do I pick up the shattered glass and also wipe away the oil...the floor is so slippery right now...don't know where to begin...

do you have shoes with a good grip? mountain shoes?
remember to use enough detergent and plenty hot water, to get rid of the slipperyness problem
and remember that slower is quicker. you dont want to rush this job because for any reason, because slipping and dealing with the aftermath of slipping is bound to take much longer.
I am sorry I cant come to help you gather it all up.
I hope this helps

I would first use a squeegie and dust pan to pick up most of the oil and glass, and only then mop the floor with extra soap. _________________ Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. (I haven't finished growing up yet; I'm still a work in progress - until 120!)

what grin said, except: after dust-panning, use rags or paper towels, preferably wrapped around something so any stray shards don't cut you, to wipe up residual oil till you no longer see grease staining fresh areas of the wipe. Then mop or wipe the whole area with diluted ammonia or straight white vinegar to cut any remaining grease. DO NOT MIX AMMONIA AND VINEGAR! USE ONE OR THE OTHER.
You may not need detergent at all. This would be best because detergent leaves a dull film that attracts and holds dirt and makes the floor impossible to clean.

| Use paper towel to soak up what you can and then pour salt all over the rest - let the salt soak up the oil and then you just sweep up the mess! It's happened to me before and the salt always works. Good luck!

or corn starch, kitty litter, fuller's earth, or clay, all of which are used by dry cleaners to absorb grease spots.
