| I am rather enjoying it - it's a fictional story of sisters and what happens "along the way".

But, tell me peeps; is this a true picture of charedi life? I've read the book a dozen times (not really). _________________ The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits-Einstein

Her books made me really sad. I read some of them when I was becoming frum and was a little afraid that what she wrote was true of most charedi society. Of course I know it isn't, but there are many non-frum women I know who read these books and think it is a totally legitemate view of charedi life and an insider's view at that. _________________

I loved that book. While I don't think it is an accurate portrayal of all charedi life, I think it shows that things aren't maybe as peachy for everyone in that world as we'd like to believe. I think this is true of most of Ragen's books of that genre (Jephte's Daughter, The Sacrifice of Tamar). _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766

| I really liked the book. It was more nuanced and balanced than Jephte's Daughter. I particularly enjoyed the encounter with her Reform Jewish employer/confidant in New York, and seeing how each character's perspective changed as a result.

someone recently gave me this book. would you consider it "kosher?" (of course, everything read with a grain of salt, though) _________________ "G-d's gifts to you are your talents...How you use them is your gift to G-d."
