| |
The Hatzolah vehicle, known at “Truck 1″, was driving on 53rd Street and New Utrecht Avenue just after 3:30AM, when they noticed a 2-year-old child in pajamas walking down the street. They quickly stopped and held the child, and contacted Boro Park Shomrim and police to see if anyone reported a child missing. There wasn’t any such calls.
Shomrim quickly did what they had done in the previous incident, and had volunteers start knocking on doors to see if anyone was missing a child.
At approximately 4:20AM, the Shomrim hotline recieved a frantic phone call from a mother stating that their child was missing. Shomrim rushed the child to the home, and the mother and child were reunited.

Why did that article neglect to mention the successful outcome?
From the website they cited, "At approximately 4:20AM, the Shomrim hotline recieved a frantic phone call from a mother stating that their child was missing. Shomrim rushed the child to the home, and the mother and child were reunited."

B"H...and I was just about to post that Yoshi. I can't imagine what the mom must have been going through. _________________ But then again, I'm a dragon.

The article had a link to read the rest of the story on Boro Park scoop, which gave the full story.

BH he was find but does anyone thinks its weird that at 4:20 am they saw their son missing...and how exactly did he get out of the house
I mean I know I check on my kids before I go to sleep so maybe the mom went to sleep late but still that doesn't answer how the child was able to come out of his house unoticed especially if we play scenario that mom was awake ...

What's all the bafflement about? You've never met a kid who managed to climb out of a crib? Who knew how to open doors? Sometimes they learn this mamish overnight. Or in the middle of the night.
Hashem should watch over all our children.

| I heard of many stories about kids sleepwalking and opening locks and walking out on the street. Maybe if the kid sleepwalks the mother routinely wakes up in middle of the night and checks on the kid.

My friend's 1.5 yr old crawled out the door at about 8 pm - her parents thoguht she was sleeping in her crib and she climbed out of her crib and crawled out the door that was left slightly open while the parents were moving things in and out of the apartment. It never even dawned on them to check to see if she was still in her crib. It was a really big storm and there was a blackout on her block. CHASDEI HASHEM - not even normal - a taxi driver stopped a few inches away from her b/c he "sensed" an animal or something. He got out to check and saw a little baby crawling across the road RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS CAR. He went to every single building on that block with the baby until he found someone who recognized the kid and brought her home.
These things happen and we can only be so prepared...the rest is up to Hashem. This particular mother happens to be a very cautious and paranoid one, too, so it just goes to show... _________________ For every minute of anger, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.

A shomrim member told us that when this story happened on Motzei Yom Kippur http://www.boroparkscoop.com/2.....#more-4314 shomrim found 40 doors UNLOCKED at 3:00 am in that neighborhood!!! (apparently they were trying to figure out which house he mightve been coming from....) for some reason that fact disturbs me terribly!
Also I'm wondering if it wasnt the same kid both times cuz Story #1 on Motzei Yom Kippur-2 year was found by 14th Ave & 54th St.
Story #2-2 year old was found by New Utrecht & 53rd Street.
Thats like 1 block & a half away from each other...coincidence?!

This is the story:
The parents were at a chasuna which ended very late. At 3 am the babysitter was rocking the child in the carriage and confirmed a million percent that he was asleep. Figuring he was asleep she laid down to nap till the parents would come home. When the mother came home she asked the babysitter where he was and started looking for him. It was only at 4:20 after searching all bedrooms that she noticed the door unlocked and called shomrim.
As a side note this 2 yr old is a very feisty child and the mother knows it and is very careful to always make sure she has eyes on him from the time he wakes up till he goes to sleep. Poor babysitter!

so you think that she was up untill 4.20 and only decided to check on him then?
or do you think parents are supposed to wake up every half hour to check on their kids at night?

why should she have been awake?

She didnt notice the door unlocked when she came home? It was only after she searched all the bedrooms that she found the door unlocked?! Something doesnt make too much sense.

left that part out! (my bad). The front door is always locked because he can open those locks. It's the basement locks that are usually kept open because the child isnt alone in the basement. The official entrance is thru the basement only because of him.
