Someone once posted that she stretches her gefilte fish by slicing and frying it. Can you please post details? Do you bread it first? How much do you defrost it first? Or do you cook it before frying?
Thanks

I don't do it to stretch, but it tastes good.
You can do it 2 ways: let the raw log defrost slightly, slice and dip in matza meal and fry.
or defrost completely, add more ground veggies (I never do this) and some more matza meal and fry in balls or patties.
fried fish balls are found at almost every simcha and kiddush and shabbos meal in the U.K. It's the Jewish take on fish and chips.

I don't fry to stretch, but rather because when I make it this way, my kids actually eat it. (Otherwise it goes on the "What do you save then throw away" thread...lol)
Slightly defrost one loaf fish. Dip in egg, then flavored bread crumbs. Fry in oiled pan, few minutes each side. Enjoy!!

| Sounds great, and different for a change. Can I fry them in an oil spray instead of regular oil??

| A more healthy way to do it is to slice the frozen roll, dip in egg and flavored bread crumbs and bake in the oven . It comes out delicious without the extra oil. I actually just put my batch in the oven.

This thread is so interesting, I never heard of anyone frying gefilte fish before. I learn new things everyday from Imamother, I love it!
