4 bedrooms? Good luck finding something in a decent price range...

(sorry, don't mean to sound mean, I'm just frustrated that DH keeps telling me that housing expenses in Los Angeles are what's preventing us from living near my family...)

start looking on ziprealty.com
you find that the reality is that a 4 bedroom house in los angeles or pico area will be over $1 million. if you want decent, more like 1.2-1.5 million. we are currently looking and I am not exaggerating.

if you want 4 bedrooms for 850,000-1 million look in encino
if you want 4 bedrooms for 650,00-850,000 try north hollywood, valley village, tarzana

you will not find cheaper unless its in out of it neighborhood or fixer upper.

for the city you can try chana wintner as a realtor
for valley village/north hollywood try jennifer naiman or michelle hirsch
for encino/tarzana try luba kleinman

good luck! I happen to love california and think it's an amazing place to live, but if you want to buy be prepared for the price.
